Blue Moon, did you set up the short story contest categories? Howzabout a 'Humor' category? I guess I cannot bring myself to write always of wistful, dreamy sighs against a pastel moon....

Just kidding...but truly a 'Humor' category would inject some mighty grins, and we can all use that too. Myself, I love tongue-in-cheek humor material.

Also Sci-Fi; I don't personally do a lot of that, but there are those who do, and I suspect they have a sizable following.

Mike, thanks for the suggestions! We'll add "Sci-Fi" and "Humour" and hope that group members can help populate those categories with info of short story contests they know about. There are smaller local contests that individuals might be aware of. Same goes for genre-specific if that's the area someone reads or writes in.

Sounds good! Whenever I hear of a contest I'll post a note.

Might be fun for us to hold our own little contests too! Just a thought--could be a good little venue for trying out new concepts, much like pro comedians do in small clubs on open mic nights.

Actually we're probably dating ourselves talking about "telephone" games Amanda...first, They've all dropped the "tele" in favor of "cell" or "i" these days, and more importantly I understand it's not cool to actually talk on a comm link anymore--one must send a "check out my FB" text instead. Or maybe there's an acronym for it...COMFB?

By the way, if ever I use a LOL or a ROTFL in anything at all, somebody please shoot me. :)

Mike, one of the groups I'm a member of has a "Fun&Games" section where they do things like we're discussing. It's great fun and lots of people join in. Are you in, Mike? Moderators, would you be willing to start up a section for this?

I cannot enter any of my short stories into the contests because they are all published...although sales are virtually non-existent. :)

How about creating a new story and entering it into various contests before you publish them :)

I have had a couple of feedback's on my stories 3:04 and Mildred's Makeover. Don't be afraid. Post your story and I will give you some feedback. Go for it!!!
