why not just read the first book and the second book in May?

That would be a great idea, but seeing as we're halfway through the month and I just found out what the BOTM is for this group, I wouldn't have the time to add an extra book on top of all the others I need to read. Also, this is not the only book club/group I participate in at the moment.
What I can do is read the Hidden Oracle for this month's BOTM, and if I find extra time in June, I can attempt to read Dark Prophecy.
Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't finished reading the Percy Jackson series, so it makes me question if I should read the Trials of Apollo now or wait until I finish with the entire Percy Jackson Series.

As for the answer to you question: it's not on the group page, it's on YouTube. Sasha had mentioned it in her video "April Wrap Up & May TBR". In the last minute of the video she mentions that "Dark Prophecy" by Rick Riordan is going to be the May BOTM.
