I just finished reading
by Anita Shreve. She is one of my favorite authors and she does not disappoint in this novel based on the true story of a devastating fire in 1947 along the coast of Maine. The main protagonist named Grace will win you over with her grit and courage.

My current read is Polio: An American Story - a nonfiction book that reads like a mystery novel. I like books in the style of The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic - and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World and The American Plague: The Untold Story of Yellow Fever, the Epidemic that Shaped Our History that combine history, science, and narrative.
I just finished The Women in the Castle by Jessica Shattuck. It's the story of three of the widows of the resisters who attempted the assassination of Hitler. It's much more about the German people after the end of WW II and their moral struggle to live with themselves. I gave it four stars. Very well written.
I finished The Inheritance by Rochelle Alers this weekend. I'm excited because it's the first in a series of a new romance line set in Louisiana that ties in history of New Orleans and family history.
I am currently reading Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis. I am about 3/4 of the way finished with the book and it is an interesting exploration of one man's experience in that culture.
