Can't do it. I got 2 chapters in and that was it for me. I'm totally uninterested by the plot and the vampire, werewolf and others story line.

Hmmmm . . . it made it into several must read lists . . . it will be interesting to see if we can figure out why.

I'll keep checking back to see what others think.

I have to agree with Joe. I tried to get into this (I even have it on audio) and just couldn't do it. I, too, will keep checking back. :(

Started today - only about 15 minutes in on the audiobook . . . so far, its okay . . . waiting to run into the stuff that drove you guys away!

I know this will sound ridiculous, but because some of you really disliked it, I feel I HAVE to read it and see for myself. I may break down and just buy the ebook.

Sometimes I find my favorite book in the midst of negative reviews!

Me too, which is why I am so intrigued.

Made it an hour into the audiobook. Fine so far. Takes a bit to get used to jumping into what is obviously already a very well developed world with an extensive history. Let's see if the author can smoothly transition me into it.

Nope - its a standalone according to all sources.

In fact, that was one of my criteria for picking it!

That's what I thought, which is why I was wondering about the "very well developed world with an extensive history." I usually love when an author drops me in one of those. Yet another reason to pick it up!

I am not saying that those who gave up early will like it any better if they kept going, but after all the intro and background stuff, the story has become different than I expected.

Aww well I really want to read this one and I've had it from the library for a while! I'm just so crazy busy with stinkin' work! Lol! I keep tellin' myself I gotta' play the lotto so I can just sit back in my riches and read. Lol!

I have actually owned this book for a few years now and, I am ashamed to admit, it has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust. When I joined this group and saw that it was the book of the month, I got excited thinking I finally had a reason to push myself to read it. However, after seeing everyone else's thoughts on the book, I'm afraid I am just going to end up hating it haha

Welcome Danielle! I do hope that you enjoy Sunshine . . . in looking at reviews on Goodreads it appears that it does have somewhat of a following, it is just so far not getting a lot of positive publicity here!

"Well developed world" is an understatement. Lol! The author goes into a lot of detail I'll give her that. With as much depth as she gives it though I kinda' wish it were a series then.
