I am totally invested in this book now. I don't want to do anything but sit here and read! We kind of flew through the war and are now about out of it. I haven't marked any quotes because I get so engrossed while reading that I don't even notice the writing. I guess that's a good thing. haha.
I don't find myself relating to any of these three women, but I am feeling lots of things! I go from crying at the kindness of the German electrician who shows up for just a brief moment and shows the women in Kasia's block some kindness. The next minute I'm fuming at the callousness of Herta and the others in charge.
Caroline is on her way to France I think, but I'm still eager for the intersection of all 3 characters and curious as to how that will happen.

Well, I must admit I am finding the characters forgettable. I am LOVING the storyline, but I am hoping the characters get a bit more developed. So far, I'm giving this a 3 star rating.....Hoping it gets better. I will admit this last chapter when they are escaping has been the highlight for me, so I am expecting to really get into it from this point on.

I hope it gets better for you too! I was really in it by this point. But that is because I was so emotional - angry and sad mainly. Look forward to hearing what you think as you finish.
Just out of curiosity, how do you think the characters could be more memorable for you? Or what makes a character stand out to you?

I am LOVING IT! Krista, I also got teary eyed when the old man came with his songs and gifts. I am confused about the baby that popped up while leaving the camp. I must have missed something. I am hoping I can power read and finish today!

Oh boy, that man was so precious. He was like a beacon of hope and light in such a hopeless, dark situation. I like to hope that there were many people like this!
Power through! It goes quick.
