I have a library copy so I need to see if I can make some additional reading time.

I'm planning this. (Yeah, I know we've all heard that before). I got a copy from NetGalley.

Finished! I really enjoyed it. I was skeptical at first - I mean the MC is a runaway princess - but there's a ton of action inter-sped with court politics.

The heroine is a bit of a smart ass who enjoys a good curse, so...

;-)

Sounds great. This is on deck next.

I am working my way through this; it's very fun so far. I do have some issues with the way some of the secondary characters are written, but I love the snarky gunrunner-princess.

I hope you like it! I'd say its a solid 4 star. There is some info dumping in the beginning but not as bad as I expected.

In a way she reminds me of Scalzi but with many, many more pages, lol. She's a bit more descriptive than him but the books gives that "fun but serious + action" vibe I often get from Scalzi.

You know, I'm giving some thought to reading book #2...and pre-ordering #3...

I ended up reading the sequel and enjoyed it. I enjoy the premises and Hail as a narrator.

However, I still had issues with the way the secondary characters are written: (view spoiler)[I had some issues distinguishing characters from one another; traits seemed to migrate from character. She also has this tendency to assign different names for characters (like calling someone by their title in one paragraph and then their first name later on. Very annoying. (hide spoiler)]. I am not sure if that technically counted as a spoiler, but I didn't want to ruin the book for someone.

I'd be curious to know what you thought of the sequel if you read on. I had fun reading it, and I'll probably keep an eye out for the third because I want to know what happens!

I started the other night and now I'm about 1/3 of the way through. It's got a quick pace and easy tone with the first person narrator.

59% and I'm having a hard time putting it down.

Yeah! I had that same problem!

It's a good problem

So I finished this last week and gave it nearly top stars. Such a page turner deserves it.

And I'm closing in on halfway through book 2.
