Has anyone started this or already finished? The reviews have been five star and authors like John Green and Jason Reynolds have also given it high praise. I was pretty blown away by it myself--the protagonist Starr already faces issues of race from both sides of her world before tragedy hits. And after? It's on another level... I'm really glad I read it.
This book was exceptional - to the point where I'm slightly at a loss for words. The topics in this book are devastating ones that are hard to think and talk about, but they're important ones that DESERVE and SHOULD be addressed. I had so many feelings while reading this, and think it should be required reading for every human on Earth. For a book about such difficult topics, I must say that I really, really loved Starr's family; they may be one of my favorites ever. I appreciated their love, their chemistry, and their humor.
Will The Hate U Give book become a classic? Is it The Outsiders of this decade?I'm reading it, but a friend tells me that the audio book is even better.
This book is so amazing. Handling hard feelings and topics so deftly! I was so moved by the characters and writing in this book.
I don't want to repeat my "review" actually more my response to this book. I agree with so many others....words are not sufficient and yes, like the Outsiders...destined to become a classic. This would be good discussion for anyone...high school and above and probably should be widely read!
The Hate U Give is longlisted for the National Book Award for Young Peoples Literature.https://www.newyorker.com/books/page-...
