Saturday, May 6th is Free Comic Book Day. It is being celebrated at a lot of stores and libraries, where you can get a free comic book as well as meet writers and artists for signings. Some of the southern California ones are: Pasadena Public Library, 285 E. Walnut St. in Pasadena. Giveaways all day, but at 2 pm there's a panel of creators talking about how a comic goes from idea to finished product. Creators of Hex 11 and Boston Metaphysical Society will be on hand to do signings. Collector's Paradise stores in Pasadena and Winnetka will have comic artists doing sketches for kids, in addition to the giveaways. Blastoff Comics, on Lankershim in NoHo, will have Mark Waid, Cecil Castelucci and others doing signings, in addition to the giveaways. If you're not near any of those, look and see what's near you!
