Prom
(( anyone ))
Yoongi immediately knew he should've thought through his decision to go to the prom as soon as he stepped through the door and saw every inch of the place practically oozing fanciness. The food, Yoongi. Think of the food, he tried to tell himself, but at the moment, he was too busy gaping at the elegant black and white decorations. Not wanting to do much of anything, he found a nice corner to blend in with and pulled out his phone. He began to text Namjoon about the experience, but he was afraid one of the chaperones might get mad at him for just keeping his attention on and only on his phone for the night, so he took a quick selca, posted it on his twitter, and shoved his phone back in the inner pocket of his jacket.
(( anyone ; I'll post her outfit in an hour or so ))
Niko's eyes were bright as she stepped into the beautifully decorated room. Her steps were slow and steady as she gracefully made her way into the room, and she had to catch herself a few times from falling, as she was wearing very high heels. Her dress swished around her legs with each moment, and somehow, the way the dress felt around her body made her feel like she were back in Korea and a part of her old kpop group. After all, the dress was rather similar to one she'd worn in one of their more popular songs.
((Niko))Johanna was sipping sparkling lemonade at a white-clothed table near the food when Niko came in. She had really wanted a date to the dance, but was too shy to ask and she hadn't been asked. Oh well. She could make some friends instead.
She smiled and waved at Niko as Niko came in without a date.
(( johanna ))
Niko waved back at Johanna and began to walk over to the girl, smiling broadly. She hadn't had enough time to get someone to ask her to go with them, so she'd resorted to going alone. At least now she could have someone to talk to and make it less awkward.
((Niko))"Hi!" Johanna exclaimed with a smile. "Is this your first prom too? I'm a junior." She shifted the seats so two were facing each other. "I'm excited. The food looks delicious. Do you know if you can just grab it or if there's going to be a certain time for dinner?" She paused her rapid-fire talking to let Niko answer.
(( johanna ))
Wow. Well, this girl was certainly the fast talker, and it took Niko a few moments to process the long string of questions before answering. "I'm a junior too, and yeah, it's my first!" Had her parents not stepped in and made her go to an actual school she'd never actually gone to a prom, so apparently there were some benefits to their decisions. "I... I don't know? I've never really gone to any school events before, so I'm pretty new to this."
((Niko))Johanna smiled and slowed down. "Sorry, sometimes I talk too fast. I think there's an announcer so they'll probably sort it out." She sipped her sparkling lemonade and tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. "I thought most people had dates to prom, but everyone I've talked to is going solo."
(( johanna ))
Niko gave a small laugh. "It's okay. we all do it at times," she assured her. "And really? I'm surprised that you don't have a date... you're very pretty," she told her with a wink, and she meant it- Johanna truly was rather pretty.
((Niko))Johanna laughed happily. "Thank you," she told her. "You're really pretty too! I also love your outfit. It looks great with your skin tone and hair."
(( johanna ))
A light blush tinged her cheeks at the compliment. "Thanks! Yours does as well!" It had taken Niko quite some time to find a suitable dress, and she'd only been able to pick out her outfit with the help of her old girlfriend.
((Everyone)) Ashley sashayed out onto the stage with a big smile, grabbing a microphone. "Hey everyone! I hope you guys are having a great time! I thought I'd just clear a few things. First, the food is whenever you like, there isn't a set time. Second, the dance floor is open now!" She walked over to the side of the stage and started playing an upbeat song. She planned to play some slower songs later.
((Niko))
Johanna smiled at her. "You hungry?" she asked after hearing Ashley's announcement. She drank the rest of her lemonade and set it down on the table. "Not many people are here yet," she observed with a slight laugh.
(( johanna ))
Niko gave a small laugh at Johanna's second comment as she shook her head. "I'm okay for now, but I can almost guarantee I will be within ten minutes!" It was true- hardly anyone was there, Niko observed, as she surveyed the room.
((Niko))Johanna grinned at her reply, "My appetite is like that sometimes. Like, I'll leave to go somewhere and not eat before because I'm not hungry, and then I'll be hungry a few minutes after I leave."
"Life is so rude when it does that!" she exclaimed in agreement. "But I've found that the one thing that always makes me hungry is dance!"
((Niko))"That's awesome!" Johanna praised. "Is that what you do here? I'm in the Creative Arts also, doing singing and writing."
(( johanna ))
Niko nodded. "I sing and dance," she told her with a smile. It was a sign that her parents did have hearts, she supposed, in how they let her still pursue her passion.
((Niko))Johanna grinned, "I wonder if they'll bring out the karaoke machine like they did at the Spring Fling. I never got the chance to sing last time. This event does seem more formal."
(( johanna ))
Niko gave a wild grin. "Well, they could do a more formal version of it and have us belt out classical music or opera," she joked with a laugh.
((Niko))Johanna let out suppressed laughter. "I have dabbled in piano, but not enough to play the classics," she admitted, picking up her glass to find it empty. "I'm going to get more sparkling lemonade. It may just be lemonade and soda water, but it looks and tastes fancy!" She grinned.
(( johanna ))
"I played the flute a bit when I was getting into the music industry, but never got too far into it," she confessed as she took a sip of her half-full glass, then let out a loose laugh at Johanna's comment. "Never before has a truer statement been spoken!"
((Niko))Johanna stood up, smoothing her dress. "Do you want some? Or something else? I think I saw some sweet tea and assorted sodas over there. And water, but you're not that boring, are you?" she asked with a smile, slightly regretting saying it after it came out. What if she did want water?
(( ahhh I'm so sorry, I missed this notif! ))
Niko had to laugh. "I still have some of mine left, so I think I'll finish it before getting any more," she told her as she took another sip. "And of course I'm not that boring! Water isn't fit for prom!"
((No problem :)) ((Niko))Johanna internally gave a sigh of relief and smiled at her, "Alright, I'll be right back." She picked up her floor-length dress with her free hand to avoid getting it dirty as she walked over to the buffet table. Refilling her glass, she noticed a box labeled "Prom 2017 King and Queen Crowns." Neat! She headed back to Niko.
Niko peered over at the boxes that Johanna had stopped to look at. She'd never had the best vision, and although she had glasses, she hardly ever wore them in the fear it would draw attention away from her natural features. Plus, they'd be a pain if she had to dance with them. "What's in the boxes?" she asked Johanna as soon as she approached.
((Niko))Johanna sat back down, grinning. "They're the King and Queen crowns for the dance! I can't wait to see who wins this time." She sipped her drink and brushed her hair back. "Do you want to dance or something? I assume they'll be switching the songs to slower later, and I want to dance before they do."
Niko's eyes widened. "Really? That's so cool!" she exclaimed with a smile, fixing her gaze upon the box once more before looking back at Johanna. "And of course!" she answered before grabbing her hand and pulling her onto the dance floor.
((Niko))Johanna grinned and followed Niko out. She folded the bottom of her dress inside it to shorten it. Bouncing for a moment, she caught the beat and started to dance. She didn't dance very well, but she didn't dance horribly. She spun a little and moved her arms to the beat, grinning at Niko.
Niko, being so used to dancing in high heels and long skirts, was able to fully display her skills in the dancing medium. The moves came so naturally for her it was almost like walking, and she loved it. She flashed Johanna a smile once she was done with the dance, her head bobbing up and down as her breath came out in heavy pants.
((Niko))Johanna applauded. "Wow! You're a great dancer!" she exclaimed. "I wish I could dance like that!" She paused as she heard the next song start up. "Shut Up and Dance With Me! I love this song!"
"You're a good dancer too! I'm only this good because I've been doing it all my life," Niko told her with a wink. Deciding to not respond with the fact that she wasn't too familiar with the song, Niko just felt the beat and began to dance once more.
((Niko))Johanna tried to keep from singing, but there weren't that many people there. She started to sing along under her breath. "She said 'Don't look back, just keep your eyes on me' I said 'You're holding back' she said 'shut up and dance with me.'"
(( Johanna ))
Niko gaped at Johanna. "Your voice is so good!" she exclaimed over the loud beat of the music, her accent messing up her pronunciation of the words.
((Niko))"Thank you," Johanna laughed softly as she danced. "I guess we make a good team! Singing and dancing!"
(( Johanna ))
Niko nodded, laughing and spinning around to the familiar beat of the next song. While she was a bit ashamed that she was not as well acquainted with American music as several of the other idols were, she knew the tune from one of the covers her friend had done. She'd always been more of a rapper, so when the part of the song she knew best came along, she grinned at Johanna before perfectly executing it.
((Niko))"Wow, so cool!" Johanna exclaimed. "I've never been good at rapping. Dancing and rapping both require good rhythm, so that must be why you're so good." A few students applauded for Niko and Johanna as the song came to an end. "Thank you, thank you," Johanna said with an exaggerated bow. "Wouldn't it be cool if someday I released a song featuring you? You could do a rap section in the middle and be a dancer on the video." She knew it was unlikely to happen, but fun to speculate about.
(( Johanna ))
Niko's eyes were open wide in excitement. "That'd be so much fun! We should talk to the creative arts teacher about that!" she gushed, almost squealing in excitement.
((Niko))"Really? You think we could do that?" Johanna beamed. This was a prestigious school and Ms. Violet seemed really nice! It would be fun.
(( Johanna ))
"And if she doesn't cooperate, I'm sure the members in my old group would be more than willing to support us," she told her with a wink before picking up her glass and raising it in a small 'cheers' before sipping from it.
(( Johanna ))
"We should meet sometime, to work on it!" Niko suggested, releasing a small burp and giggling slightly.
((Niko))"Sounds great!" Johanna told her, giggling slightly as well. "Music studio Saturday?"
((*goes to make a music studio thread*))
(( Johanna ))
Niko grinned. "Sounds good! I have no social life yet, so I'm free anytime."
((Niko))Johanna grinned as well. "I don't have much of one either. I have a lot of schoolwork as a junior here, though. They don't mess around when it comes to academics!"
(( Johanna ))
"See, I'm just a horribly awkward person!" she said with a laugh, knowing with all her heart that was lie. "But in all seriousness, without my group members, I'm just a salty potato in a big world."
((Niko))"A salty potato in a big world," Johanna repeated. "What does that mean?" She knew Niko was horribly awkward, but the phrase caught her attention more than that statement.
(( Johanna ))
Niko shrugged with a laugh. "I heard a youtuber say it when I was watching a crap-ton of videos to help with my English."
((Niko))Johanna laughed, "Was English not your first language?" She had assumed Niko had grown up in the United States like Johanna had.
(( Johanna ))
Niko shook her head. "Nope! I was born and raised in Korea. My parents moved to America when I was on tour, so when they told me I needed to come with them and cut my contract short, I enrolled here."
