the girl peeked around the corner before walking out into the light - emerging from the darkness of the alleyway. she glanced up at the streetlight above her, crinkling her nose slightly. she hated this place during the day time, the streets were lining with activity. not to mention, she simply just hated people. the only thing they were good for is doing her dirty work, manipulating them was the best part.
jinx cleared her throat, smoothing out her short tight blank dress. she began to walk down the street, her black stilettos clicking against the cemented ground. it was probably best nobody knew what happened in that alleyway. eventually somebody would find the body, but it didn't matter. they would think it's an accident, jinx was smarter than to leave tracks. either way, she got what she needed.
"Oh god! Bell is going to kill me," Lily mumbles to herself as she rushes down the sidewalk. She carried a birthday cake that she picked up from the bakery down the street. Both her arms held bags, one of them containing the birthday present she bought for Bell's little sister and the others with all the pink and gold decorations needed for the party. Leave it to her to take care of picking up everything.
Vee squeezed passed the other people that walked by. Everyone was in their own world with their own problems. Her started early this morning when she woke up late. Then she tried to call bell to ask her for the address of the bakery, but her phone was dead because she fell asleep while it was open. To make things worse, her dad had taken her car because his was at the mufflers. So yah, it was basically bad day for her.
But now wasn't the time to think about it, except she kept on worrying about being late that she didn't notice the blonde headed lady come out from the alley before she ran into her. "Wooo!" Lily went stumbling back, losing hold of the cake in her hand and watching it fall to the floor.
jinx glanced once more over her shoulder before she felt something came crashing into her. it startled her, causing her to stumble a bit. her heart skipped a beat as she saw the cake, whipping up a quick spell in her mind so it was saved. instead of the bakery delight ending up on the ground, it now rested upon her hands. "dear child," she said aloud, shifting her gaze upon the girl with the slightly purple hair. it was clear the girl was a mere teenager - the lucky number 17 popped into her mind. she held her breath once she realized she was also human. crap.
she was so caught in the moment that she didn't think before using magic. she could only hope the girl didn't realize it. if she did, she may just have to use some type of brain washing spell. "are you okay?" she asked, trying to be nice - quickly changing the subject to. she looked down at the cake, simply spelling out "happy birthday".
Lily caught herself before she could go falling to the ground. But her body didn't move one bit as she watched the cake fall. She held her breath, already imaging the cake landing and flipping in its container, causing the frosting to smear. Just the thought of it was enough to bring tears to her eyes because of this horrible day. But for some reason, the cake disappeared. Gone. Vanished. As if it was never there, and she stared in confusion. "What the..." she trailed off when she heard the female speak before her.
"Oh," she then remembered the fact that she bumped not into someone, and as she looked up to apologize to her, she noticed her holding the cake that had just disappeared a few seconds ago. Her brows drew together, blinking a few times to rid the tears that had almost gathered. Instead of answering her or anything, she immediately asked, "How did you do that?" Lily straightened up a bit, moving her arms a bit to have a better hold on the bags. "The cake... it was falling.. and then it disappeared...."
jinx pressed her lips together, staring once more at the girl - who appeared confused. she didn't need any other proof to know the girl had seen it, maybe she could play it off. humans were always so gullible. "do what?" she asked, acting dumb. "I saved your cake darling. lucky to, i almost didn't catch it," she responded, handing the cake out to her to take back.
she raised an eyebrow at her dumbfounded response. "wild imagination, hm? you must've been so scared and worried about that you imagined all that," she said, throwing her hand around in a magical way. "be careful, next time?" she asked, giving her a forced friendly smile.
Lily looked over the lady again. She looked older than her, in her twenties. But she looked very young too. She tried to think about what she said, but it didn't make sense. She didn't see her hands move to catch the cake. So how could she have caught it? But maybe she was right. Maybe she had panicked so much that she didn't even notice it. After all she had been close to crying so her eyes must've blurred a bit.
She did sound crazy after all. How could it have disappeared. Maybe it was best if she shut up. She was already frantic from the almost horrible accident and busy day. She should just be thankful nothing happened to the cake. She blew out a sigh of relief and took the cake into her hands, taking a strong grip so she wouldn't drop it. "Yah, your right. It's not my best day," she tries to explain to the lady, giving a small laugh. "Sorry about bumping into you." She tells her with an apologetic smile.
jinx basically sighed a breath of relief, in her head anyways. she was lucky the girl fell for it, she last thing she wanted to deal with was somebody freaking out about her being a witch. last time that happened the kid went around screaming about it, she had to drag them somewhere and brainwash them. she listened to the girl, nodding slightly. "I understand," she said. "it happens to the best of us," she added.
"Oh, no worries," she said with a small smile. "Accidents happen. it's quite clear you're in a hurry," she pointed out. she thought for a moment, maybe she should help her. it would probably ease the situation that just happened. "matter of fact, do you need help with anything?" she asked gently.
Lily was glad to not have bumped into someone that probably would have flipped out on her. She wouldn't have been able to handle that now. Maybe today wasn't a bad day after all, well kinda.
"Really? That would be wonderful." She tells her happily. Help from someone else is more than she could ask for. She would have had Bell do it, but she's to busy making sure the house was clean and her sister was ready. If only Bell's parents weren't out of town. But Lily would do anything for Ariana, Bells little sister, to see her happy. She was like a little sister to her too.
"If can help me catch a cab, that would be great." Coming to downtown was a pain in the ass sometimes, especially when it came to catching a ride. This wouldn't have been a problem for her if her dad hadn't taken her car. "I'd do it but I don't think I could get any of their attention," she admits, raising her hands to indicate what she meant.
jinx gave a gentle smile at her response. perfect. not only did this help her out, but it also would keep jinx busy. she just hoped this girl wasn't an annoying one - this last thing she needed was a girl who talked on and on. if that was the case she'd have to find a way out or just use some spell to shut her up. but it didn't seem like she'd have to. "great! I could use something to keep me occupied today," she replied.
"a taxi? oh, honey. we don't ride in those ragged things. come, we will ride in my car," she told her, passing her and began to walk down the street. her vehicle wasn't too far from where they stood - in fact, it's where she was headed before their little run in. the last thing jinx ever used was a taxi, a community thing. disgusting.
An eyebrow arched as she questioned her choice of ride. Was there a problem? "Oh..." she said, a bit surprised. She never had a problem with taxis. Yah sometimes they were a bit smelly. Still, she wouldn't argue with a free ride. "Okay." She said with a shrug.
Lily turned around and moved after her. It really was nice of her to help and offer her time to actually drive her, even though she was a complete stranger. Thinking about that, once she reached the ladies side, she said. "My name is Lily by the way." She smiled up to her.
[ahh I'm sorry. i saw this but forgot to reply :(]
Jinx made sure the girl was following her before she sped up her walk a bit. She hoped the girl didn't find it strange that Jinx was offering so much - her time and now a ride. "Lily," she repeated, nodding slightly. "Such a beautiful name," she complimented. "My name is Jinx," she told her. Her name was much different compared to hers. It wasn't everyday you met somebody named Jinx. You'd think she would choose a more common name when she came into this life, but she enjoyed being different in some way.
She got her car keys out, clicking a button and in a response a car beeped back. "Over here," she told the girl, walking over to a red bmw. She made her way to the driver's side, opening the door and sliding into her familiar seat. She closed the door and clicked her seat belt on, waiting for the younger girl to get in and tell her directions.
((Its okay. Lol I kinda disappeared after ending u anyways ^•^))
Lily smiled shyly. That was a first time getting a compliment about her name. Normally people said it was common or short. But she didn't care. "Thanks," she tells her. "Jinx is a cool name," she admits, "I've never heard it before."
Lily looked over to the car that beeped before them. She followed jinx to it, and as she went to the drivers side, she walked up to the passengers. Struggling a bit, she opened the door and slid in. She set the bags down by her feet and placed the cake on her lap before closing the door after her. Man did it feel good to relax.
As she pulled the seat belt on, she told she the address, "I live at 55 lake avenue." She planed on going to her place to grab a few more things. By now her dad would be home and she would use her care to go to her fiends.
Jinx nodded, "Thank you, I like to think so," she said with a light laugh. "My parents were weird, a bunch of fortune teller people. So no doubt they would name their kid something weird," she explained.
Jinx listened to her directions, nodding slightly. She slipped the key in, turning the engine on and the whole car started up. She turned the radio down a bit so they could at least hear each other. She knew exactly what area Lily was talking about, and she was positive it wouldn't be hard to find the house. Luckily, it wasn't too far away. "So, what exactly is the cake for?" she asked, sparking up a conversation as she pulled out of the parking spot and into the street.
