Hi everyone! My name is Luis Almonte and I'm the author of the YA novel Rise which was selected for a Publishers Weekly review and featured as an editorial review on YABooksCentral. I'm excited about joining this new group and meeting new people who also share a passion for reading and films. My all time favorite film is Casablanca, and my favorite book is The Catcher in the Rye. I also want to thank in advance anyone who has taken the time to read my debut novel. I look forward to discussing the book with you all. If you are considering writing your first novel and are in need of some direction, don't be afraid to reach out and say hello 8-)
Thanks so much, Luis! We are thrilled to have you onboard. We are lucky to have such a communicative author willing to spend time with us as we pore through the book! The Catcher in the Rye is a classic. I love The Giver, The Great Gatsby (ah! Such a pure and hopeful main character! Emotionally devastating!) and My Sister's Keeper (although Small Great Things is a close runner-up). My favorite book does tend to depend on my mood, though. Do you have any tips for readers/things to pay special attention to as they begin to read?
