Amanda Arko | 2 comments I need help locating a book. I read it on my Kindle, but I cannot, for the life of me, find it there. It was the first in a series, the other books were as yet unpublished when I read it (I believe last year, possibly late 2015). I also cannot remember the title or author. I have no idea if the book was ever printed or only ebook.

A rough synopsis:

Modern day with flashbacks/mom's story via diary, possible light shifter element (it doesn't really seem to fit, but I can't shake it), no kink.

So, adult female (can't remember her name) was raised by her grandmother because mom went nuts and killed herself. Grandmother emigrated to the hills of NC from a tiny, secret village Scotland that is fed by a never ending cauldron of food (like, it really never empties despite how many people eat from it). She lived off grid, sold moonshine. Lead's mother's protector lived with them for most of her young life. They are people of some ancient goddess, there used to be giants.

Women in 3s are born with specific gifts, each destined for a specific purpose. Each of those women in each generation are paired with a man from the village to further the women's gifts (they have a purpose, but I can't remember what it is).

Anyway, alongside these women as they age is a guardian. The guardians have some powers as well. They serve to protect these women from a 3rd outside evil force who wants to prevent them from fulfilling their destiny.

Female lead and male lead have the hots for each other, but he says he can't act on them bc of his boss who is supposed to be destined to marry female lead. That story was to be further explored in book 2.

Female lead is working on a thesis for something like roots of Appalachian songs her "granny" used to sing in Gaelic. She's a folkloreist, I think.

Help!?
