Stephanie Rowe again.

Why would any writer want to reuse a cover? Me I think it's tacky anyone else find it strange that Rowe's covers are copies or vise versa????f

Heidi Angell (heidiangell) | 26 comments They're being cheap. I'm sure the author didn't know they were going to do that. But there's so much similarity, esp with Romance, and when the publishing house is shelling out $1,000s on royalty rights, they need to make that back.
Or, it could be that one publishing house is copying the top seller from another publishing house. There was a big to do recently with a Sci-fi author who did the same thing to try to skim off a big name author. The cover was almost identical, the book name sounded like a spoof off the big name author, and the author name was a cheesy sound alike even.

Shady practices abound when people are only focused on the $$

Rhoda Baxter (rhodabaxter) | 3 comments It could be unintentional. Most book cover designers use stock imagery as part of the cover - like the couple in the embrace - then add other stuff around it to to make up the full cover image. I know I've seen another book with the same core image as one of my books out there. I only found it because someone pointed it out to me. I'm pretty sure that author hasn't heard of me either. Just unfortunate.
