Something we're all affected by. Whether it's glorious sunshine or pouring it down with rain and flooding our streets!. We're beholden to it. It can affect our moods and what we're doing.

I just wanted to share that today (12 June) we have sunshine!! Yay!! Potentially all day!! No, I haven't gone mad, I live in the UK!!! :0)

50s with rain.

Lavada (kraftyvada) | 436 comments Supposed to be 77 today which is cool for June. Had heavy storms and BAD winds during night.

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Well, the weather here today is raining. ITs been like that all week. It's fine with me except when I have to walk the kids to the busstop. The weekends are beautiful though, so I'll take the rain during the week.

Garrett Smith (garrettsmith) | 46 comments It's raining, again. We live in NE Oklahoma in a part of the state nicknamed Green Country because there are so many trees and other greenery. Not what many people picture for Oklahoma, but our reality.

We usually have a rainy March-into-early-May, but this year it was dry then, and now we have have had a great deal of rain late May and now into June.

It is actually lovely.

message 9: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) | 694 comments It has been raining here in tn but we got a respite from it today. It'll prob start raining again here in Middle tn starting tomorrow.

Very true. I never would have associated greenery with Oaklahoma. Sounds nice. What kind of temps do you get this time of year?

message 12: by Garrett (last edited Jun 12, 2014 07:27AM) (new)

Garrett Smith (garrettsmith) | 46 comments Janet,

Yes, even people from other States think all of Oklahoma is dry. Take a look at our picture (Avatar) to see the trees in the background. The photo was taken in our back yard.

It will be in the mid to high 80's today. By the end of June it will be in the high 90's and maybe reach 100. July and August can be extremely hot and muggy with 100+ temps for days on end. These are the times when one just stays inside as much as possible.

message 13: by Victoria (new)

Victoria Dougherty (goodreadscomvictoria_dougherty) | 60 comments Warm, muggy and rainy here in Virginia. VA is dripping wet all summer. Lots of severe thunderstorms and an occasional hurricane - although we're a couple of hours inland and just barely make the hurricane zone.
Janet - OK is pretty my 4 distinct states geographically, right? So I bet it varies tremendously as you drive from one part to another.

Victoria,

I see you have lived in Prague, one of my favorite cities. I bet you knew Richard Katrovas, the Director of the Prague Summer Program for Writers (Western Michigan University). I attended the program in 2006. Arnost Lustig was to be our primary instructor, but health issues caused him to sit out that year and Richard stepped in to teach the classes Lustig could not. The program was a magical experience in an enchanted city.

All the best,
Cynthia (The Garrett half of Garrett Smith)

Four countries ie. England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland makes up Great Britain.

The further north you go ie. towards Scotland the weather is a little cooler on average to say London, but other than that, it doesn't vary that much. Southern parts tend to get the higher temperatures.

Lustig was there! How nervous did that make you? LOL. Much I would think. That is something to be proud of! I took a look at your book, The Bone Church: A Novel, and added it to my TBR.

I love your rainy weather. Several years back, during a trip through England and Scotland, I had to buy a big bulky sweater. IT WAS IN JULY! I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
