I'm in. I do love looking at other people's choices and raiding their lists! Thanks everyone. I agree Mary :) It's great to look over other's choices - except when some of them magically make their way to our TBRs!!
Brenda wrote: "I agree Mary :) It's great to look over other's choices - except when some of them magically make their way to our TBRs!!"I think I am just resigned to that Brenda. Nothing is ever going to make my TBR list shrink in any meaningful way. Sometimes I go back through it and wonder why on earth I even put some books on it! But really I can never resist any that are in front of me.
Mary wrote: "Brenda wrote: "I agree Mary :) It's great to look over other's choices - except when some of them magically make their way to our TBRs!!"I think I am just resigned to that Brenda. Nothing is ever..."
Yeah! I'm not the only one! The problem is that there are sooo many great books out there but it seems like the majority are part of a series. And If I see a book that sounds good, I immediately look at the reviews to see if friends like it, too. If not pass. Seems logical at first. However, here is the problem. 80% of the time, someone, at least one someone (who will remain anonymous) gave the book at least 4★'s and really liked it ,too! Which IS the whole point of having friends with similar book tastes. And if you have no self control *sigh*
Thanks mates! You are all sooo helpful!!
Just a question - do we need to nominate before we start like those above or can we just start reading and fill in the books and categories as we go? - if so I am going to try and do with only Aussie writers but I may have to hunt around a bit before I work out my list
Yes we like to see your nominations first or at least most of them:) That's why we post the challenge with more than a week to spare before you start - lots of time to plan!
And your choices are not set in concrete. You can change any that you need to as the challenge progresses.
And your choices are not set in concrete. You can change any that you need to as the challenge progresses.
I'll give this a go, though not sure how far I'll get as I'm doing another challenge at the same time.1) Read a book by an author you have never read before - Down for the Count by Martin Holmén
2) 2nd in a series - The Terracotta Dog by Andrea Camilleri
3) 3rd in a series - The Kill by Richard House
4) 4th in a series - Diamonds Are Forever by Ian Fleming
5) Rated 5★ by a goodreads friend (Chad) The Secret Agent: A Simple Tale by Joseph Conrad
6) Set in winter - The Dogs of Riga by Henning Mankell
Ok, I am in, and going to try to do 12 books. Suspect I will have to change some around in the second set though. Here they are:2nd group
5.
Now all I have to do is keep myself busy reading other things till the end of May, so I don't start early on some of these! :)
Good luck everyone.
Hi all,I would like to join your challenge, if I may.
Here is my bid)))
1. One for the Money
2. Whose Body?
3. Where the Dead Lie
4. The Murder of Mary Russell
5. The Black Book
6. A Spoonful of Murder
Thank you
Svetlana, great you're joining us - but you need to have #1, first in series; #2, second in series; #3, third in the series etc. Or the OR part of the criteria. Your #1 is correct, your #2 shows it's first in the series which is incorrect, your #3 is 12th in the series.... etc.
Just go back to the first post for the exact criteria, and if you copy that you'll have it right :)
Just go back to the first post for the exact criteria, and if you copy that you'll have it right :)
Brenda I think she has done an either/ or for her six choices and she is correct with all of them.
Sorry, I was rushing yesterday...I was trying to keep up to either side of the scale (for all six books). However, I failed miserably. Thus, my list is from both sides. I hope it is ok.
Looking forward to more reading suggestions)))
That's okay Svetlana :) I'm afraid I couldn't work them out without your choices listed ;) Doesn't take much to confuse me ;) As long as you enjoy your reading!

Here’s a tip which might help. Say you want to find the fourth book of a series. Go to your GR bookshelf (the “My Books” tab above). In the search field, enter the number 4. This will bring up a list of books that are fourth in a series and tell you whether you have read it yet or not. Be warned, it will also bring up books numbered 14, 24, 34, etc., but it’s an easy way to find a fourth book. Remember you are only looking at the crime/ mystery /thriller/suspense books.
