Tell us where you're from, who your favorite thriller writer is and where you like to read.

message 2: by Linda (new)

Linda Boa | 1 comments I'm from Oban, on the West Coast of Scotland. My favourite thriller writer is probably STILL Ian Rankin, as no-one has come close. I'll read ANYWHERE, but my favourite place is in my bed!

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm Nadine from Germany. I love books by Ian Rankin, Lee Child and John Connolly. My favorite place for reading is my couch (boring, huh?). But I read a lot on trains because I'm a commuter.

Kai Kiriyama (KaiKiriyama) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Kai. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I'm a big fan of old detectives, staples of crime fiction and noir. I'm currently reading a tie-in to the UK show LUTHER, but hand me anything crime-related and I'm bound to read it! I mostly read in bed or sprawled out on my couch. :)

message 5: by Aunnesha (new)

Aunnesha | 1 comments I'm Caroline, from New York and I love about any thriller, crime, or mystery book you'll put in front of me. I mostly read curled up on my couch or locked away in my safe haven... my bedroom.

I'm Jivani, from Oceania. I have a love-hate relationship with James Patterson, and with anything by J.D Robb. I could read anything as long as it involved some sort of mystery, really. I mostly read in my bedroom.

Melissa | 7 comments Hi, I'm Melissa and I'm from Florida. I enjoy reading Tami Hoag, Heather Graham, James Patterson, and Lisa Gardner. I read mostly on my patio.

message 9: by Pauline (new)

Pauline | 1 comments Hi, Im Pauline from Scotland. My favourite author by far is Jo Nesbo. I have read all of his books for now and have had to branch out and find new authors of similar calibre. The other authors that i quite like are David Baldacci and Michael Robotham. I mostly Listen to audio books in the car as i commute 4hours per day but my favourite place to read is outside in the sun.

message 10: by James (new)

James Reid (james_reid) | 1 comments Hi, my name is James Reid. I love finding groups like this because only then can I be around avid readers and fans like myself. I like true crime novels and shows like Forensic Files. As such, I'm a fan of writers like Ann Rule and others who write true crime. My favorite place to read is on my couch, with a bag of chips beside me.

I've recently published my first fiction novel, Partners in Crime, which is a police procedural. You can see it here on Goodreads and it is also available on Amazon and Barnesandnoble.com. It took years of painstaking work and research, but I'm thrilled to have completed it.

I'm currently working on my second detective novel.

Robert | 3 comments Greetings and Salutations. I'm Bib and I live just north of Detroit in the great state of Michigan. Recent convert to the genre, reading everything Megan Abbott and Joe R Lansdale. Big fan of Southern Gothic (Harry Crews), true crime, fake crime and everything in-between. My reading habits can best be described by this quote from my bride: "Your book order came today...psycho"

Hey, Ryan. I'm actually a big fan of Robert B. Parker, albeit after reading only one of his - Stardust. Judging by the cover art and his photo (kind of goofy, really) I wasn't expecting much from Stardust, but ended up being very impressed with his pacing, characters, and, in the end, his sensitivity. It actually inspired me to add more sensitivity to my own novel which I was close to finishing at the time.

Me too but I never read Stardust before.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Stardust is part of Parker's Spenser series. It was published in 1990 but has a very modern feel. I found it very engaging, a lot of action and interesting characters with a lot of depth.

Heide Katros | 35 comments Hi, my name is Heide Katros and I am a writer. I was born and grew up in Germany near the French border. I've been writing and reviewing for some 20 years and I am a big fan of Sandra Brown novels. They are edgy, hot and I love the twists she adds before she leads you down the most unexpected path in the end.

Hi, Faye, nice to know someone from Tampa. I think you would like Cindy Gerard, Roxanne St. Claire and Joan Johnson and they are all from Florida. If you like, you can look me up on my website www.heidekatros.com Have a super day, Heide

Sue Coletta (suecoletta) | 12 comments Hi, my name is Sue. I am a crime writer and love Karin Slaughter and Sandra Brown. Sandra Brown was one of the first authors who made me want to write suspense. I'm trying to think of a question. These opportunities don't come along everyday and I don't want to waste it by asking something stupid. Have a great weekend, all. See you back here on Monday!

message 32: by Heide (new)

Heide Katros | 35 comments Hi, Sue, if nothing else, we are trading experiences with others about authors some of us have never heard of. BTW Cindy Gerard is not from Florida, but Heather Graham is and she is a super person in person:-)aside from being a great writer. Sue, I can't think of a question either.

I have never heard of Cindy Gerard. Are you sure you're not confusing me with another Sue? I do love Heather Graham's books, too, and many others, too many to list. :)

message 34: by Heide (new)

Heide Katros | 35 comments Sue, I don't know you personally. I was only responding to your message. Cindy Gerard is one of my favorite authors. Look her up on Amazon or B & N. She writes dark Ops stories.

Hi Faye :)

The sentence on reply to my post is cut off, but it's great to see everyone here being so nice and helpful for each other. I can't see all of what you said, but thank you *hopefully it's not bad, lol*

Nice to "meet" you and Happy Reading :)

RE: Questions for this awesome Q & A!!!!! I adore Sandra Brown and I've got nothing!! Nothing at all! Nothing original, at least for now, but I'm thinking. *total brain fog*

Same here! I love her books. I don't know how many times I wished I could ask a hugely successful author a question. Now the time has come and I'm drawing a total blank. Gad!

Heide Katros | 35 comments Ladies, I am a new kid on the block myself. In fact, that's the way my life went mostly. So I have come to introduce myself and try to find something positive to say, which isn't really hard to do. There are so many good authors out there, and so little time :-) Did I mention that Heather Graham is not only a good author, but wonderful and caring in person? BTW Currently reading Katie Reus books, hot, but short

Oh, I'll have to check her out. Thank you! BTW, I was just confused why you mentioned she was not from FL, when I hadn't mentioned her, that's all. It's nice to meet you! Hey, did you think of a question yet? I'm racking my brain and haven't come up with one-- and time is ticking!

message 40: by Ev (last edited Sep 27, 2014 09:11AM) (new)

Ev | 9 comments Hi everyone, My name is Evelyn, but I'm called Ev. It's nice to meet everyone. I spent most of Friday watching a NCIS marathon on the USA channel.
There is a need to be cautious of how I say that, since I was in law enforcement I another life, I'm used to saying NCIC! My husband I live in NE Florida with our four rescued dogs. He is from northern MN and I am from NE OH. Yes, we met on line, but not through a match service nor a chat room. August 12th was our fourteenth anniversary, so some who meet on line do have good relationships that last!!

My favorite genre is mystery/thrillers. I used tread a lot of John D. MacDonald as he was from near where I grew up and always mentioned the area in passing in all of his books with colors in the title.

I feel I am blabbing, so I'll say have a great day!

Kelly Marshall (goodreadscomkellymarshall) | 3 comments Nice to meet you. Ev. I write murder mysteries about two Seattle homicide detectives. Have two completed and working on a third. The Radio Murders and 6 White Roses. Really like this group. Hope you feel as welcomed here, Ev.

Hi, Ev, you weren't babbling and John D. McDonald used to write the Traviss McGee series, right? Even though none of us has any questions for Sandra Brown, she brought this together, because everyone loves her writing. I have read most all of her books. Have done reviews for almost 20 years and I write romantic suspense that takes place in Florida. I started out with historical romance. Maybe you'd like my writing www.heidekatros.com on Amazon and B & N. Take care, Heide

message 43: by Faye (new)

Faye Ridpath (ispgypsy) | 9 comments The only question I had I had for Marcia Clark and that was before I knew this discussion was coming up, so I sent her a message and she answered me. I wanted to know if there are going to be more Rachel Knight books. The series so far was available on Netgalley for free and I want more now! She said she will be writing more but didn't say when.

message 44: by Ev (new)

Ev | 9 comments Thank you, Faye. What is the name of the first one? I like to read series in order.

message 45: by Faye (new)

Faye Ridpath (ispgypsy) | 9 comments Ev:

Here is the order of Rachel Knight Books:

1. Guilt by Association

2. Guilt by Degrees

3. Killer Ambition

4. The Competition

message 46: by Ev (new)

Ev | 9 comments Heidi yes Travis McGee books take place in FL on his boat The Busted Flush.

I'm impressed with all of the writers who belong to this group! Every year I write a book for NaNoWriMo, but for myself. I've been doing that for 10 years. I have written in a lot of different genres. The best writer in the family is my hubby and he has been working on a mystery for several years doing tons of research. This coming year I think my couple will move to FL on the St Johns River where I live.

Last night I found "Fat Tuesday" by Sandra Brown I don't know how it got by me and I never read it!!

BTW, I read my Kindle almost anywhere, but my favorite place is in "my" chair wrapped in an afghan with a cuppa tea!

Does anyone in this group read and help edit books that members are writing? That seems like a lot of fun.
Ev

message 47: by Heide (new)

Heide Katros | 35 comments Sue, I don't have any questions for Sandra Brown or anyone else. Their success speaks for itself. I just mentioned the other ladies, because most readers don't give new authors a chance. But I love to read, mostly by Kindle these days, and Sandra Brown can only write so many novels a year:-)

Ev, It tickles me, though it doesn't help my sales when readers look for Heidi, when my name is HEIDE, short for Heidemarie, and the name for heather in German. Did you ever read French Silk by Sandra Brown? Loved that one. love everything about New Orleans

message 50: by Ev (new)

Ev | 9 comments Heide, I'm like you - love everything about LA together, and NO the best. Yes, have read French Silk. I used your web site info you posted here, then I book marked it so I can back whenever I wish. BTW, there are a lot of cozies set in NO. Some are simply border-line cozy.
