Forgotten Classics and Other Lesser Known Books (or No One Has Read this but Me!) discussion

Parameters are

Rules
1. One book per person and the nominator must lead the discussion
2. Must have 5,000 ratings or less
3. Forgotten Classics must be 50 years or older (cut off 1967)
4. Lesser Known books must be 10 years ore older (cut off 2007)

Also as a result of the poll we are only reading one book per month so you may nominate a forgotten classic or a lesser known book.

I nominate The Wicked Pavilion by Dawn Powell.

The Blackwater Lightship by Colm Tóibín. Shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1999.

I nominate The Financier by Theodore Dreiser

I will nominate Maps for Lost Lovers by Nadeem Aslam. Would second The Blackwater Lightship.

Shhhh. Let's focus on the positive. Dreiser is an old favorite and Aslam a new one. Powell is one I haven't met yet, but who intrigues me.

I read the travels of Marco Polo a long time ago. I liked it. very interesting.
