I have a suggestion for you, Storm! I don't hear enough about these books or this author and I think her books are just amazing. I already read those, but I'm up to suggestions! I have no idea which books to read :)
oh, I have a lot of these, but some are the Flynn Laukonen duology by Tabitha Suzuma, Last Night I Sang to the Monster by Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Leave Myself Behind by Bart Yates, Ask the Passengers by A.S. King, Naïve. Super by Erlend Loe, Splitby Swati Avasthi, Boy Toy by Barry Lyga, Lexicon by Max Barry, The Shock of the Fall by Nathan Filer and How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr. hopefully there are some books none of you have heard of before :)
I loved The Disappeared by CJ Harper. The second book, The Wilderness, came out in February, but I haven't picked it up. It's a good, under-hyped dystopian with likable characters.
I read The Shock of the Fall just before it was released and although it won the Costa Award, I am surprised how few people have read it. It's definitely worth a read and gives a very realistic insight into mental health issues.
Some of the under-hyped books that I have read and enjoyed are Thirteen by Tom Hoyle, Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick, Are We There Yet? by David Levithan, Philadelphia by Christopher Davis and Ministry of Pandemonium by Chris Westwood =)

I have the one you mentioned, adding it to this challenge's tbr for sure.
The Adaptation duology by Malinda Lo is pretty good! (+diversity yay!!) and anything by the amazing Courtney Summers honestly.

I have heard some good things about the Adaptation duology...and yay! a duology! =)

I went through all of my 4 and 5 star books and made up a blog post with all of the under 5000/10,000 rating books =)

I made a shelf for underhyped books that I own or have on my wishlist (ratings under 5,000), here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I'm reading How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer right now! I already started reading it when I heard about this read-a-thon. Some underhyped that I've read (Under 5k ratings):
Near Witch by Victoria Schwab
The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls by Clair LeGrand
Starstruck by Rachel Shukert
The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
Also Known As by Robin Benway
EDIT: I just made a shelf. I didn't know I had read so many under-hyped books!

'A Really Awesome Mess' sounds awesome! I just read Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist and enjoyed it so I might try that one at some point (it says it's similar)

I really want to read Near Witch and The Disenchantments. Maybe they will get added to my TBR...too many ideas!

Strohmeyer's other book, "Smart Girls Get What They Want" it's incredible! And so underhyped.
I have a few of those titles on my list as well :)

yes! :D Wish there were more duologies out there.
I really love 'The Queen and I' and 'Queen Camilla' by Sue Townsend. A word of caution, though--I have no idea how well the humour translates outside the UK. The reviews are completely polarised, and the people slating them all seem to be from outside the UK, whereas the people who say they are the funniest books in the world seem to be mostly British. The jokes are extremely observational and I guess they might not be funny if you haven't lived in the extremely weird cultural hodge-podge that is the UK. I still love them enough that I wanted to recommend them here, though!
I highly recommend The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd! It's an amazing book, I've read it a couple of times now and I feel like this deserves to get a lot more buzz :)

From the synopsis it sounds similar to David Levithan...I'll definitely look out for it in the library =)

It's been on my radar for a while and I really want to get around to it at some point but I have loads of books under 10,000 or even 5000 ratings so I'm concentrating on those personally =)

I actually haven't really thought much about this yet (shame on me!). I'm going to yallfest in November so I'm trying to read more books by the authors that will be there. Somehow I doubt they will be under 5,000 ratings though...
The Mortal Engines series by Philip Reeve is amazing. It's one of my favourite series and I wish more people talked about it. Definitely a different take on the post-apocalyptic dystopian genre with diverse characters and scope. I reread the first book earlier this year so I'm thinking about rereading the rest for this readathon... oh the possibilities...
I'm shocked to find out that The Crash Of Hennington by Patrick Ness has less than 200 ratings here on Goodreads! It's his first book and sounds very bizarre so it's definitely on my list for the readathon.
Despite The Diviners being popular in the past, I have heard very little about Libba Bray's other books. I loved Going Bovine and Beauty Queens. Beauty Queens raised a lot of good points about feminism and sexuality while still being really funny. I'd also like to see more people reading and discussing the works of Ellen Hopkins considering they explore a wide range of topics affecting young adults, from drugs to the confines of strict religion.
I just found a book with only 91 entries, just started but it seems interesting and fairly easy to read. Tuk Tuk to the Road: Two Girls, Three Wheels, 12,500 Miles

I've just looked it up and it looks really interesting. Definitely different from anything I've read before, I might check if my library has it =)

I enjoyed Saving Mars by Cidney Swanson. It is sci-fi/dystopian, and it only has 269 ratings on Goodreads. It's the first book in a series. I've also enjoyed 100 Days in Deadland by Rachel Aukes. This is book one of a zombie trilogy that parallels Dante's Divine Comedy. It's absolutely brilliant! Only 300+ ratings on Goodreads.

I just looked up Saving Mars and found that it's free on Kindle (at least on UK Amazon)! Sounds really good too! http://amzn.to/1qw7EQ4

I have this one
on my TBR, it only has 52 ratings here on GR, it's currently free on the US Kindle store just in case anyone is interested.http://www.amazon.com/Clan-Realm-Love...
I recommend anyone Stefano Benni's work. I don't know exactly which of his books has been translated in English so far, but I'm positive that "Margherita Dolcevita" was translated, and it's one of my all time favorite book.

One of my favourite book series is called the Witches of Eileanan, by Kate Forsyth, it's an adult fantasy series. No one I know has read them, but they're amazing!
Definitely one of my favourite books, Ultraviolet by R J Anderson. It's contemporary with a twist of sci fi and is a really quick read. It has a sequel too, which is called Quicksilver. Both books are so good and should have had way more promotion!

I actually have Ultraviolet on my shelf. I got it for my birthday in December and haven't picked it up yet. I'm going for books under 5000 ratings so I won't be reading it during the readathon but I hope to read it soon!

yup. Studied it at university, he's a south african author so he's not well known overseas
Michelle has just made a really great 5-star book suggestions video all about Under Hyped books! There are some really great suggestions so please be sure to check out her video =)
Here is my list of my under hyped books. I created a shelf for some of my favorite books that are under 1,000 on their ratings. :D https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

I have a lot of the same books. I will have to try to make a list soon.
i have a few suggestions :D i have read Sweep series by Cate Tiernan this is my all time favorite series no other series has topped the Sweep series there are 15 books; however, they come in bind ups as volumes. there are three books per bind up = 5 volumes. i really like the covers for these volumes. Another awesome series is the Wicked Series by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie, they come in bind ups too; although, i dont really like the covers. These series that i have mentioned are two different series obviously but they are about witches and warlocks...they are sci-fi a bit on the supernatural, but i really enjoyed them and if any one gets to read them i hope you enjoy them as much as i did :D

Hey there again!It's read-a-thon time.
I've decided to do something useful, so I went (well, still going) through my shelves and compiled a list (new shelf) of underhyped books. 90% of them have under 5000 rating, as planned, but I also added a few that have a little over 5000 or under 10000 that we don't hear a lot about.
I'll write a post including this list as well, but right now, I hope, it can help you, guys, to find some books you've never heard of.
Here the link: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
Happy reading!
P.S. You can found a wide variety of genres there, but even I don't read everything, so there're no horror, rape/abuse books, not many detective stories and thrillers(and maybe I forgot some genre, that I don't read, right now, sorry). But apart from those, there's everything.=) Hope it'll help.
Also, almost forget, if you see a Russian/Ukrainian/French/other title, that's because I own that edition (in most of cases). Of course, it happens that some of them aren't transleted in English, but only in rare occasions.
