Kandice | 944 comments Other than seeing him in a few commercials, I haven't seen anything else of his, so I went into this blind.

I know he has had bit parts in some sitcoms, but his stand up, one othe book of his I listened to, and the time I saw him on Letterman are my main points of reference.

One of the things I like is his clean comedy. Not that I mind vulgarity in comedy, I just feel that comedians lean on it too much and it ends up being not very funny. Example - Louis CK is much funner on SNL when he has to use wit instead of the f-word to be funny. His stand up on Netflix is practically unwatchable to me.

Kandice | 944 comments I don't mind cursing and vulgarity in comedy either, but like you said, the mark of a true comedian is the ability to also be funny without it. I don't like Louis CK at all and I don't know why. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Christopher Wilson (munklebob) | 45 comments I think he is much more well known comedian in the US, as is Louis CK. I think I've only seen him once on TV here in the UK doing stand up. I seem to remember him being quite deadpan. Sarcasm and deadpan work really well for me.

Gaffigan does have a somewhat sarcastic, cynical, deadpan delivery.

I believe his most famous stand up skit is one about Hot Pockets. Click here for the skit on YouTube

Kandice | 944 comments Thanks Matthew, but now I almost wish I hadn't watched! That is not the way he sounded in my head. I have the ebook and the audio on Overdrive, but have been only reading since that's quicker. I think I'll forgo the audio. O_o

Ha! I have heard some people say they don't like his voice and delivery, but I do. I listened to his book, Food, and it was great!

I think he's a little dry for me. I love the sound of his voice my head created, though! ;-)

I can tell that this book is more for the parents.

For those who are not parents, Food: A Love Story is very good!
