Adult coloring books have become popular as a tool for managing stress.
We need a Sword and Laser coloring book!!!
Alternating pages of scenes from science fiction and fantasy.
Adult coloring books have really made a difference in people's lives. Two of the charities I work with help abused women and children get out of their destructive situations and since coloring books were introduced a few years ago they've seen much faster and smoother transitions.
It started off just as a thing for the kids, but the moms started doing it, too, and it's really helped. It seems like such a simple thing, but apparently it allows you to focus on something other than what's troubling you and enter a meditative state. The stress relief is measurable, too.
I didn't mean to be judgemental (Even though I guess I was)
Whatever gets you through the stress of life is good. I was just surprised that it was a real thing. I could see my mentally ill sister doing something like that as therapy. It would be better than somethings she uses for stress relief. i.e smoking and drinking more than is healthy for her.
My idea of stress relief is firing up my XBone and shooting a few baddies in a FPS. ;-)
To each his/her own :-)

I've seen adults with very detailed coloring books on planes a few times. I'm not sure if it was just as entertainment, or as part stress relief as well. I know flying can be very stressful for some. Even as a middle aged man, I've found my go to for stress relief is building with LEGO. I dump really big sets in one box, and put them together without knolling, just searching for the pieces for just one step at a time. It takes a lot longer to put the sets together that way, but it is so relaxing to me. The sound the pieces make as you search through them, to the feel, the new plastic smell, and even the satisfaction of finishing a step, it just puts me at peace. I usually only have to do this once every other year or so, and then I'm good for a while.

While doing a bit of googling (I didn't know what an autoharp was), I ran across The Tufa Coloring Book by Shoshanah Lee Marohn with Alex Bledsoe. With this coloring book and the Tufa music links I posted over in the intro thread, this read is turning into a multimedia experience.
