I bought all the dark hunter books on my kindle in a set for 18 dollars!! Amazing deal, but I'm very confused. I heard that fantasy lover isn't a dark hunter book but yet it's listed as the first book in my new set and on goodreads it's listed as a companion book to the dark hunter series but the author said on her website that it had nothing to do with the dark hunters so pleasease help.

I think it is mostly considered a prequel because Julian appears in a later book. I've read the first ten in the series, and I don't think this book is necessary to read the rest of the series. It was, however, an interesting take on Greek mythology, so if you are interested in that, I think you might like it! :)
you can definitely skip it without confusion but he does pop up with some regularity so it wouldnt hurt to read it either

Well after reading the first couple books in the DH series I have come to the conclusion that it is not really necessary to read Fantasy lover. One thing you might want to think about prior to skipping it is that it really is a great read, or at least in my opinion. But hey, if you really want to get straight to the books revolving around dark hunters then feel free to skip it, there will be a brief summary of Julian’s (the main male protagonist) story in the official first DH novel, Night pleasures. But in all honesty, personally I don’t think Night pleasures was all that great but Fantasy lover inspired me to continue with the series.
Enjoy!

I think it's more of a personal choice than not. It does tie into the other books a little since some of the characters do make appearances in some of the later books. Fantasy Lover is just Julian and Grace's story and since Julian isn't a Dark-Hunter it's not officially a Dark-Hunter book, it's just in the DH universe which is why they list it as a companion novel
You don't have to read Fantasy Lover. But I think of Julian's book as a great kick off and intro to Kyrian's book. Especially as Julian and Kyrian are best friends and Julian is usually always coming back around to help out and hang out. Also I think his book sets the tone on how most of the heroes are in SK's series. So I say definitely read it, doubt you would regret it. :)
You don't have to but it is worth it, 1 it's a good book and 2 Julian and Grace are good friends and important people to several characters in the Dark-Hunters Series, and pop up in several books, in the end it worth it.
I didn't read Fantasy Lover, and started with Night Pleasures first and everything still made sense to me.
