The Casual Vacancy discussion

I really enjoy this type of book. The slow burner that is heavy on character development and focuses on the interconnections of a small community. Anybody have any recommendations for similar books?

@ Michelle, I’m late too the show, as I just finished this book, but one book that is similar - heavy on character development while focusing on the interconnections of a small community is the Gifted School by Bruce Holsinger. It’s not as dramatic as the Casual Vacancy, but it has some of the same jockeying for position among the main characters. And it also features both parents and children.
