T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments What do you guys think of YA? I loved Hunger Games and those types of books.

Sarah Carter (bysarahannecarter) | 6 comments The Michael Vey series by Richard Paul Evans is good. I read a bit of young adult to stay on top of what my children are reading.

T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments I have had SO many recommendations for the Michael Vey series. And I have loved many other books by Evans. Maybe it's time for me to bite the bullet and bump that up on my to-read list for this summer. I'm guessing I won't be sorry!

Sarah Carter (bysarahannecarter) | 6 comments You won't be. Once I read them, I wondered why I waited so long!

T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments Just got the first one on audio from my library. It should get me through some of my long bike rides and runs!

Tammy (stampingtammy) | 30 comments Love all the dystopian type YA. Divergent, Hunger Games.. Huge, huge fan of Newbery award winners. They are most always wonderful reads like Bridge to Terabithia, Hattie Big Sky, Because of Winn Dixie, etc... Harry Potter series of course. Also like Rick Riordian's mythology series. I'm still a YA at heart even if I have reached the ripe old age of 40. I think YA books take me back to those beautiful days of summer when you were young and could just read all day with no responsibilities. Also don't miss out on Susanne Collins Gregor series. Everyone has read Hinger Games by her, but her Gregor series is very good.

T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments I like YA because it usually goes quickly! But are you ready for this? I am NOT a Harry Potter fan! I am almost embarrassed admitting that, because the rest of the world fell in love with it. I just didn't like how it was written. Crazy, huh?

Sarah Anne - So I really AM liking the Michael Vey series. Took a little bit to pick up, but then I couldn't stop! I'll be finishing the 2nd book tonight!

Midge | 10 comments I like Hunger Games series, Divergent series, The Giver series (yes there are 4 of those and The Son, the 4th one I liked the best. )Also like other books by Mildred Taylor. The Book Thief.

message 12: by T.C. (new)

T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments The Book Thief was SO good! Was that YA?

I almost forgot about The Giver! One of my all time favorites. The first time I read it, I was reading it aloud to my 6th grade class. It was hard to stop when I had to keep teaching. I didn't like the second one as much, so I didn't keep going. Were the 3rd and 4th as good?

Rachel N (rachelsarahn) | 7 comments I enjoyed most of the books mentioned above as well, but we mostly stick with the Classics - EB White, Little House series, Anne of Green Gables, Alcott, Mark Twain, Wrinkle in Time, Where the Red Fern Grows... so many. My son and I have enjoyed reading the Ashtown Burials, 100 Cupboards series and the Hunter Brown series. He's read all of them and I can't keep up anymore. Have you read the historical fiction series by Laurie Halse Anderson? It's excellent. **I'm not a Harry Potter fan either. I did try - I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I should give it one more try.

T.C. Slonaker | 83 comments I will have to look up Laurie Halse Anderson. Sounds like one my daughter and I could get into together - thanks!

message 15: by Diana (new)

Diana Hill | 2 comments I just got done reading Time and Again, Unclaimed Legacy and Every Hill and Mountain by Deborah Heal. I enjoyed them very much and would call them Y/A books.
