16/7-22/7 - Ch. 124-Epilogue (pgs 810-994)

I already read this one and loved it as much as the first book.

I am rather bummed to read that this was published in 2011; we are in 2017 and still no word on book 3 AARGH! btw, did you look on the book 3 page here on GR and see Patrick Rothfuss' 'review' -he's hilarious!

seriously...we are going to finish this and then die of wait before bk 3...I have this feeling - its NEVER going to come...but at the same time - that short story might be a good fuel to have it coming sooner....

I did just cave and buy the book on audible - because on the first CD there were already tracks that were skipping and I got no time for that shit

I can hardly wait! One print copy is due back at the library this Thurs., and I'm first on the waiting list. I'll probably start the audio version on my drive home tomorrow, and then switch to print asap.

i believe he has 2 kids now...there is a picture on his blog...but other authors write with kids...I may just be cranky

You are right, there are lots of authors with kids who publish books often. Maybe he just write's very slowly...

He sounds like a perfectionist to me... and after the standard he's set up for the first 2 books; no wonder he's a bit angsty about the 3rd!

yeah, back to not liking Deena (or whatever she is going by right now)....I feel like she is leading Kvothe on and that she is an opportunist (just finished up Chapter 7)

if you want some entertainment, go and read the bk 3 questions about the release date and the woman claiming she was scammed...holy fan-boyz

Thing is... it's funny how he sort of plunged into things & face consequences later but somehow he's very restrained with her?!? He also acknowledged that weakness of his and seems like that's why none of the teachers take too much time with him? Esp. Elodin & Lorren?

What did you guys think about Elodin burning Hemm's clothes and taking Kvothe along? A lesson in questioning blindly following someone you trust?

It's probably me, Susan! Just kidding. I have a habit of renewing my books....but usually no one is waiting...or they would not allow the renewal.

It's probably me... Even if a book is due today, I won't be able to make it to the library today since I'm working! Then again, I wouldn't usually have borrowed a book on a Friday as I couldn't make it in the first place anyway ;p

I've set it aside for now, Susan, and I'm okay, I can wait for you :)

I've picked up our Southern book, The Invention of Wings, so I'm well entertained for now.

*continuous enmity between K & A
*A suddenly up from 16th to 13th on the line
*ch 15 - just another reason to top it all of, of course!

The descriptor starts with him talking about being kicked out of the university - so I'm waiting to see what happens...

Looks like there's an explanation of sort for chapter 15... though of course, all she does is get him into more trouble than she's worth! Starting to find her really annoying

I wish it's a bit more focused on the Chandrian which was his whole purpose of being there but I'm finding that Ambrose is overtaking it all... so a bit over the Ambrose thing. Bit like HP vs. Malfoy except I think Ambrose could actually cause real damage here... still, isn't there bigger game afoot?!

Thanks, yes I did. And I'm caught up. In fact, I'm going to read the 3rd section this coming weekend, before its actual start date of 6/25 -- I have to turn the book in before my 3-week trip to DC to my kids'. One of them has reserved a copy for me at a library there, so hopefully I'll be able to keep reading when I get there. And in any case, I still have the audio version.

I'm wondering whether chapter 29 will make either of you change your opinions about Denna. I've never felt quite as negative about her as both of you do -- more a bit wary, but intrigued.

I'm only up to about Ch 22 right now - trying to finish up another audiobook that will expire off hoopla tonight (and I don't want to waste one of my limited monthly borrows on it)

About chp 28, I think... halfway through this week's reading by page numbers anyway. Had to set it aside to finish a library book that's due tomorrow but can't wait to get back & read chp 29!

what are your thoughts on Ari? (who is she, what role does she play) - I just finished Ch 25 where he met her on the roof and obviously something bad happened to her at some time...

also, really is he that dumb or arrogant - gets told by a master he can't do something and so goes out to try and find someone to help me...typical teenager

I've assumed she's one of the souls who cracked under the pressure of the school. I'm sure she knows more than we've seen so far, but about what I can't guess. What I like most about her is the way Kvothe's friendship with her shows him as a truly good person.

Yes, she certainly is. But I like her. Is the ch you just read also the chapter where she tells him why she was expelled? It does go a long way to explaining her bitterness.
