Alice Cradle | 7 comments three possible cover images; https://www.goodreads.com/photo/user/... I have since edited a typo and the author name which was awkwardly placed. I can't seem to embed the image, as I can't right-click on this computer.

Upload your cover to your Goodreads account. You will then right click on the photo and in the drop down menu, select "view image info". You'll see a list of addresses for your photos. Highlight and copy the bottom one.

In this thread, insert the address between < img src=" and "/ >, but do not leave a space between < and img or / and >.

Alice Cradle | 7 comments Dwayne thank-you for your help on how to link to the image.

Jessica Jesinghaus (jessjesinghhaus) | 78 comments Hmmm... what stands out to me is that the author name and the black lines above / below name are not centered. But I think they're meant to be? And what's the purpose of the black polkadot? Struck me as odd, but that's just my opinion.

Jessica Jesinghaus (jessjesinghhaus) | 78 comments Okay, one more thought: the tagline makes me think sci-fi? But the cover doesn't really give me that vibe. I think more memoir when I look at that image.

message 6: by Alice (new)

Alice Cradle | 7 comments Thanks for the feedback. It is sci-fi. I can centre the author name: I'll go do that now. The drab colours and the tagline were supposed to convey the image of the main character whom starts of as a child living in a dystopia but I can kinda of see why memoir would spring to mind.

Actually, I was trying to help you embed the image, since they don't like links to things here.

The book cover confuses me. It looks like a baby name book or a book of cute stories about children. But, the tag-line is, frankly, creepy and off-putting. The word "should" is misspelled, too.

Alice Cradle | 7 comments It is a sci-fi dystopia with horror elements so its meant to be creepy... I'm confused are your saying the contrast between the innocent image and the nasty tagline is too much or that the idea for the story is too cruel?
Thanks for catching the typo.

Not knowing it is dystopian, the tagline was just... creepy. I wondered if it was some kind of pamphlet encouraging facelifts for children, maybe a book promoting a "perfect" child. Knowing the genre helps.

Jane Jago | 888 comments Umm. I do see what people mean. There is maybe too much of a disconnect between image and tag line. It's uncomfortable. But maybe that's what you are aiming for.

And the title worries me a bit. Feels wishy-washy against the strength of the tagline

Better. I like the title upgrade. Maybe leave the title (in larger font) solo at the top? Then move "A speculative dystopian..." to the bottom area, above or below author name? Also, my gut says lose the 'and' so it just reads speculative dystopian.

M.L. | 1129 comments I think the horror/dystopian element would be more interesting if it showed a shadowed profile where only half the face was visible, or the child's back was turned, as opposed to a big partial magnified face.
Or (another idea), something like the balance of "Never Let Me Go" where the title, etc., are really bold and across the large image of the face.
