What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Girl returns home to Appalachian mountains...discovers things about families past, coal mining, something to do with grey mist...foggy mist...maybe has the word "light" or mist or fog in the title. LOVED this book and have been searching for it so I can read it again!! Hope someone can help :) It is NOT the John Grisham book Grey Mountain, which is a completely different story line.

When did you read it? Children's, YA, or adult? Author female or male? Remember the cover? What's the time period? How old is the girl? Where is she returning from?

One of Sharyn McCrumb's? A lot of them were set in the Appalachians.

Read it 3-4 years ago, 1950ish, returning from Atlanta, girl is mid 20s, cover is dark w misty mountains. Male author. Thx
