Good Reads Description: College student Devin Jones took the summer job at Joyland hoping to forget the girl who broke his heart. But he wound up facing something far more terrible: the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and dark truths about life—and what comes after—that would change his world forever.

My thoughts: I really liked this short novel by Stephen King. King is a master at making the setting and atmosphere of the book come alive for me. I was feeling nostalgic about 1973 and I wasn't even born yet. I like how his characters are three dimensional. I liked how it was told from the perspective of older Devin reflecting on an important year of his life. It moved a bit slow, but I didn't mind because for me the mystery and ghost story was secondary to how Joyland impacted Devin in many ways, good and bad. King did a great job of evolving the character in a realistic fashion. I definitely recommend this book.
