Leslie I'm a bit late in not only reading the book, but also seeing the movie. (I don't know why either, as I read her other 2 books, "That was Then..." and "Rumble Fish", and never had the desire to watch the movie).

After reading Rob Lowe's first bio, I decided to finally read this book. Glad I did, as I really enjoyed it. I also wanted to read it before seeing the movie. So, after I finished it, I rented the movie, and although I kinda knew it would be bad, I couldn't believe HOW bad it was!

I know most all the actors were new/green back then, but still... it was painful. So awful. Plus, the music... ugh. Beyond disappointed.

I was surprised though that it pretty much stuck to the book, although so much was cut out. (but, am kind of glad, as I'm not sure I could handle watching the rest of the footage.) Rob Lowe did look good in it though! ;)

Alison (gleefulgirl) | 11 comments When I read the book of the first time, I didn't understand how it could be an American classic but after a second read, it started to hit me.
The film doesn't really do it justice but it is a good movie adaption.

'Stay gold'- Love that quote or maybe it's 'Stay golden' ? Same thing anyhow.
