Helloooooo!! I'm so very excited about this group. I'm a voracious
reader of mostly SFF, mystery, and comics. I too am not keen on keeping up with every new release coming out as there are SO many books that are older releases that I have not read yet. I'm not interested in keeping up with the "in crowd" of books published/booktube - I just want to read good books.
Some of the books I'm reading are new releases - but not because they're the most hyped. Having a booktube channel and over-buying books that I later had no desire to read has totally cured me of that sentiment. Instead, I'm selectively picking the books that sound as though I would REALLY enjoy reading them, no matter where they fall on the popularity scale.
I'm currently reading Flamecaster and Dragon Keeper in physical copy books. I'm almost done listening to The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter on audible (I'll probably finish it tonight).
Looking forward to lots of good book recommendations and discussion in this group.

I'm so excited to have you! I just LOVE your channel. That's what's so amazing about you, you are an original!!
I love your thoughts on this topic. I tried very hard to keep up and even found myself currently buying books I REALLY did want, but also bought because they were new. I keep thinking it will help me ....be noticed. It's just not the right mind set.
So, just like you said, I have bookshelves of "older" books that sound totally amazing! I can't wait to dive into them and share them with everyone. I also can't wait for some great recommendations!!! Yaaay! I'm so happy you are here!!

I am super excited for this group! I am currently reading Love, Alice (by Audrey Meadows). It is her memoir of her time spent on the tv show The Honeymooners. It's a really fun light read!I'm also listening to The Fireman (by Joe Hill). I love listening to this because Kate Mulgrew narrates it. If that name sounds familiar you probably were a Star Trek: Voyager fan!
Hello! Im planning on reading castle in the air(1990 sorry) and House of many ways (2008) which are sequels of Howl`s moving castle by Diana Wynne Jones. Might also re-read The clockwork scarab by Colleen Gleason I remember having such high hopes for this book but it was just...ok. its been a few years so maybe my opinions changed?
I also feel overwhelmed by new releases, and have often been stung by buying new stuff and then not enjoying it, or not wanting to read it when I actually get round to it if that makes sense. I am currently reading The Name of the Wind and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Both older, but quite well known ;)
Ohhh yesss Dustin!! Thats how I know her name!! Well, we are soooo happy to have you!! Please keep us updated and tag us in your reviews!! :)
I have The Fireman on my shelf and audiobook sounds like a genius way of tackling that ginormous book!! Lol

Hi Minnie!!!
I have Howl's Moving Castle on my shelves as well! Do you have a review posted anywhere? I'm very eager to get into this series (though I only own book 1). Oh and I've heard there's an anime???

Welcome Emma!!
Yes, you make total and complete sense. I have bought books because of the hype/new release and then disliked them just a few pages in. I have also bought books for the same reasons and they are still on my shelf almost 2 yrs later. Ugh. I think it happens to us all. Hopefully we can bring some excitement back into reading "older" books. :) You have some amazing books!
The Name of the Wind was incredible. How are you liking it so far? (Dont forget to use our hashtag on social media and spread the word hehe)
You cant go wrong with Harry Potter, right? I'm itching for a reread but lost my books in a move. So I need to restock and then reread lol

The anime is brilliant from what I remember.

I'm really enjoying The Name of the Wind, I read it last year and want to refresh myself before getting to the second in the series soon.
I have to admit to rereading Harry Potter every year, I don't quite know what I would do if I misplaced my copies - disaster!
Hello everyone. I really love the idea of this group because I know I forget about books that I'm actually really excited about but that have fallen under the radar because they're not "fresh of the press".I also think it's cool to see what other people have also forgotten about, and to help motivate to pick up some backlist wonders.
I have to start Wise Mans Fear too! Thats staring at me from my shelf hehe I know I want to hurry to it, because I heard there will be a tv series next year?? Something like that.
Yeah, losing those Harry Potter books broke my heart.

Yes! It was discussed online that Lin-Manuel Miranda is teaming up with the author. I hope it really happens!

I`m actually planning on making a blog but I still need to work on the details!
Oh the studio Ghibli film? I actually seen that one first, but I enjoyed the film and the book versions in equal measure
That seems to be what I'm hearing. The movies and books are quite different?
Well good luck on your blog!!! I'm no expert, but always around if you need any help! I can't wait to check it out and make sure to link our hashtag/tag us on twitter so we can promote it!!! :)

Thanks for the offer and support :)
The movie and book are different yes. The movie was done by Hayao Miyazaki and he did indeed changed a few things from the original story though most of it are spoilers. I can metion two though.
The first one is the castle itself: Jones originally imagined the castle to be floating while it the movie it walks.
How Howl is handled with his first meeting with Sophie which happens within the first chapter/ few minutes in the film
Movie!Howl: saves Sophie from being hit on
Book!Howl: Is the guy hitting on Sophie
Oooh! Thanks for creating this group! I was actually thinking to myself the other day that my instagram sure has a lot of not-popular and older books lately (then of course I got a new YA book library haul yesterday so that changed lol). As for backlog books, I've most recently read the first two books in the Alanna series by Tamora Pierce and dragged myself through most of The Ocean At The End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman. Then I kinda lost my reading groove and have been listening to a Leah Remini biography and her experience with Scientology. It's been okay so far.
So it looks like my upcoming TBR is going to be new flashy books, but I'll be back on the older book train soon after! Thanks for the invite!
Thanks Minnie!!!
Stephanie, I'm very eager to read Tamora Pierce. I've heard such amazing things about her books!
I have Ocean At The End Of The Lane on my shelf from a book sale. I haven't picked it up yet.
I love Leah Remini's new show about Scientology. I find it sad and yet fascinating.
Well, if you have reviews for those older books, please feel free to tag us or use the hashtag #ourlostlibrary on Twitter. We will promote them!! :)

I'm so excited to be a part of this group. The only books I've been able to read this year are books within this time frame. I've picked up several hyped books and wound up not finishing them.
I just finished Eat Pray Love and I'm currently reading the sequel The Commitment. I'm really enjoying the author's humor and research that goes into her books. The second reads very much like a non fiction piece on "commitment" throughout history and many cultures. It's really interesting. I plan to share my full review here, as well as on my YouTube channel to show full support for this group.

I found this group randomly and i'm so excited to join from the description alone.I own around 300 books where i still need to read 120 books of and most of them are published between 1995 and 2015.
I love talking about these books but they arent discussed anymore.
I just started a blog and i definitely notice that when hyped books are discussed there are more views
Currently I'm reading One Rough Man by Brad Taylor
Yaay! So glad you found us, Veronique!
Yes, thats the the pressure I felt as a blogger. The new stuff seems to get the views, but the older stuff is just as good! Its just forgotten about. I hope to draw attention to it and boost all of our views!
Good Luck with your blog!! If you have any reviews pertaining to this subject, let us know! We will recommend them!!! :)

Hello! I'm excited for this group. :) Thanks for the invite, LetsBookAboutIt!I've been in and out of a terrible reading slump all year, but I'm currently making another attempt to get back into reading like I used to be. I just finished A Little Something Different, which was super cute and a great fit for my mood. Now I'm looking for another book to start today while my motivation is still high.
Oh yaaay!!! Im sooo glad to have you here Kaitlin!! I just love your reviews and miss chatting with you!!
Hmm so what exactly are you looking for? Do you want recs or are you just searching your shelves?

I missed chatting with you, too!!
I'm not looking for anything in particular at the moment, though I'll probably go with another contemporary. I think I'll just pick up a random book and start reading. That's how I ended up reading A Little Something Different.
Thats a smart way to go!
I feel like Im unintentionally doing that First Chapter Tag lol I start books, they dont fit, and I move on lol I need to find another winner. I loved When Dimple Met Rishi!

Ha, you've reminded me of a title that I hadn't recommended for my library to get through Overdrive yet. I really want to read that book.
