Is a discussion you are looking for no longer there?

Let me tell you where to find it.

All Group Reads, Buddy Reads, Poem of the Month, and Nominations discussions are in the Archives folders in descending order by year of the discussion.

Any discussions, from other folders (Croissants, Coffee & Tea for example), that have been closed or not commented on recently are in the Archives Miscellaneous.

The exception is the Dickens Project which has its own archive folder.

I tried to leave any discussion, even if there were not recent comments on it, that might have information useful to the group or individual readers in the original folder.

Most of the archived discussions are still open and you can comment on them.

The last couple of Group Reads are right above the archive folders. I left those in case anyone is a little behind and still wants to comment on the recently read books.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a note here or message me directly.

Thanks Gem for doing that work. I know it's tedious and time consuming.

Linda2 | 3750 comments Annoying problem, although we have no control over it. When I get an emailed message, and click on it, GR redirects me to a discussion page made up of random comments by the people who have "friended" me instead of to the page in this group. Makes it like Facebook, I guess, which I detest. I have "unfriended" everyone to see what happens.

Does everyone get that redirect?

I didn't know we were covering the Regency period. I've always though of it as roughly the beginning of the Romantic period. And I thought, and still do, that the end should be 1914, a year of huge changes, not 1910, which is arbitrary. End of my 2 cents
:-P

King Edward VII, son of Queen Victoria, died in 1910.

That didn't affect lit, music, art globally as much as WWI.

Dunno, lol. I cheated, copied and pasted from where I saw it, then edited it with my name.

When I get a private message and click on it, it opens the message... just like my off site email does. I don't get redirected anywhere. Is this where your problem lies or am I not following?

Linda2 | 3750 comments These are not PM's. They're notices that someone posted in a thread that I follow, such as this one or a book discussion. They started doing that about a year ago, or maybe when Amazon bought GR, and it's more than annoying. I was just venting.

Dan | 86 comments Another vote for 1914. Helps with marketing "200 years of great literature" :)

And with all due respect to King Edward Vll, so what if he died in 1910.

WW1 is a clear break point between two eras.

Also, It would allow us to read Swann's Way.

Otherwise, very happy we can surf the eighteenth century (mostly.) Good change.

I read that some consider 1914 the end of the Edwardian era, even though George was king. I am excited about the 18th century books, since I have quite a few sitting on my bookshelves already.

Linda2 | 3750 comments 1914 is a dividing line for the entire world, not just Brit and American lit. But don't get your hopes up. I already suggested it a few years ago.

I don't know where the archives are. Can you point me?
I'm trying to find out when our group began.

The archives are below the active discussions. You will find them if you keep scrolling down on the group's home page (using the internet).

Rochelle, I could be wrong, but I believe some of the archives were deleted by a previous moderator

Instead of scrolling down the home page, go to the menu in the upper right hand side of the home page and click on "discussions." There you will be able to see all the folders, including the archived folders with I divided by year.

I can only speak for myself, I've not deleted any discussions, just moved discussion that had no comment on them for a year or more to the appropriate archive folder.

Looks to me like the group started in September of 2010.
