Review Group discussion

In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
If you don’t agree to that tell me now so that I can find another member who will do so.
This is the ‘18+’ group. Anyone is free to enter any genre book in this group, but should be aware that they will predominantly be reviewing books with explicit sex and/or violence.
Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 17th September.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews must be posted to GR, Amazon .com and Amazon.co.uk.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

You have the next week to exchange your book files. My advice is to use PM to give email addresses to each other (save the chance of spammers getting your addies from this open forum).

Due to a clash, we have a space up for grabs. Please check to see if there is a clash before signing up.

it is fine to review a second book from the same author, but you cannot review a book of someone who has reviewed you.

For some reason the author links (except Scott's) don't seem to be working. All the book links are. Is anyone else having this problem?

I have never participated before, so can review anyone not listed, otherwise I can review E. first.

Oliver's profile link did not work for me and neither did Tara's. Jayne's and Scott's did.

I'll have a look at the links later folks. In the mean time all the book links are working so if you want details of an author, you can go via their book. This is the first time I've set up a group so please be gentle with me!
If you can all hold your horses for a while longer, till we get that final group member, that'd be great.

Can we please start a thread for the final member? Now I wish I had just signed up for 39!

Should those of us who can, go ahead and start round 1? I'm happy to take review copies from those assigned to me and send copies to the three identified for me.

I think that'll be a good idea, hopefully we'll get that final member soon.

Is it essential to do reviews in round order? So far I've only received a review copy from my Round 4, author. I'm happy to go ahead and get started with that one. Is that ok?

That's fine, as long as all the reviews are completed by the end date.
Come on authors, its your responsibility to get your book to your reviewers, but as reviewers you can give them a reminder. We've all got bust lives and I don't know about you lot, but I do sometimes get mixed up with who's doing what.

It seems we have a problem folks, one of the group members will not be continuing in the group, so several people may miss out on a review.
I would fill in, but the four people who were meant to be getting reviews from that person are reviewing me.
I'll see if I can sort out a replacement reviewer.

It is up to you whether you complete your review for Oliver's book, but it will now have to take place outside this group as he is no longer a member.
