NZ Intermediate School Librarians discussion

Well it's proving difficult to get this book off the teachers - it's so good. Would be a great read aloud too.
I love the narrative verse style of writing as it's so easy to follow.
This is a wonderful story about a boy's overwhelming love for his little brother who is born with a malformed trachea and requires a tracheotomy. Timothy commits a crime (for all the right reasons) and is required to remain at home under 'house arrest'. He is also ordered by the court to keep a journal - and the book is just that.
Excellent supporting characters make this a pleasure to read. Highly recommended.

I've become a fan of novels told in verse since reading "Booked" and "The Weight of Water", so I will definitely buy this one. It sounds great. I hadn't heard of it before reading your review Gillian. How did you come across it?

Thanks Gillian - the book is in my basket and the blog is now being followed! I can't say I've been a fan of verse novels but I think as a read aloud students will be fascinated.
