NZ Intermediate School Librarians discussion

I gave this to a Year7/8 teacher last week when she requested the next read aloud for her class. I wasn't sure how it would go in spite of the fact that I loved it as historical fiction is hit and miss with kids. However she came back two days later to tell me her class was loving it and they were frantically researching the Berlin Wall as not one of them (30) had even heard of it. Now a major class research project is underway. How great is that? A gripping, well-told story centred around a family split overnight and a desperate attempt to be reunited. Anyone who has stood at that wall as I have will get an extra dose of emotion from this story.
