━━━━━━━━━━ [ THE ALLEYWAY ] ━━━━━━━━━

. there's plenty of alleyways spotted around new orleans - but this one in particular has something about it. it's located right outside the bat bar and club, some there's usually fights and whatnot happening in it. there's always some kind of drug deal going on too. there's just something about it that makes it creepy. people always report that they feel like their being watched, or there's something evil to it. there also happens to be a little liquor store right around the corner.

Breathing was not something that topped Eli's list of difficult functions but at that moment, when the world was spinning and the taste of bile frequent on his tongue, breathing was not coming as easily as it usually did. He tried to keep some of his dignity around him by not tipping on the ground like his body desperately was telling him to, instead leaning heavily on the wall. With his side pressed tightly against the damp brick the cold seeped in through his jacket and caused a light shiver to run through him. It was nice, though. It cleared his head enough to stop him throwing up again.

This was the first time Eli had been this wasted in a long time, usually kept in check by his fellow fallen angel, his best friend, or at the very least sobered by the need to take care of him. Now that his friend had gone missing Eli was lost. He'd never done drugs before, but tonight had been a night of regrettable self-discovery and why an angel shouldn't take narcotics. His powers weren't strong enough to be unruly, but his fists certainly were, and the hallucinations of angels he had once been close with were enough to bring back all the anger he had been pushing down inside of him. It hadn't taken long for the drugs to wear off, thankfully, but it had been bad enough to get him forcibly removed from the club he'd been in, and he had been unable to orientate himself enough to leave the alley as of yet.

A short girl suddenly popped up from beside a dumpster, placing her hand to rest on the wall for support. "Don't lie to me next time," she muttered, mostly to herself. She glanced left and than right, up the alleyway before taking the sleeve of her shirt and wiping some blood from the corner of her mouth. She stepped over something, slowly making her way into the slight darkness. Some light shown through, but not much. It was barely dawn but she could see the sun coming up. The demon had barely left the club, still wearing her tight black pants, black heels, and a sheer top. Simple but revealing. Unfortunately, the night ended with an altercation that she had to take care of.

Scarlett began walking down the alley, the heels clicking against the ground and echoing around her. Just as she had started to make her way toward the exit, she heard some noise from behind. She stopped and whipped around, her eyes landing on a figure slumped against the wall. She wrinkled her nose, debating on checking up on the person. She just killed a guy, maybe she should. Attempt at some good karma. She slowly walked over, quickly making out that it was male who seemed hungover. "Lemme guess, either you can't handle your alcohol for shit.... or you had way to many," she asked, stopping beside him. She studied him - she had seen him at one point during her night inside the club.

There was no way that the approaching figure was Gabe, but Eli's mind still tried to convince him it could be. He had always been there for Eli, so when the person started to speak in a too-high voice and shattered the brief self delusion, he could only sink further down into his self-pity. This person wasn't Gabe. Any other time he would have been startled by the sudden appearance or at least been wary, but for now he could only give a bitter laugh and turn his head just enough to observe her.

"The latter," Eli answered, swallowing roughly as his voice grated out down the dirty alley. It sounded like shit even to his own ears, gravelly and slurred with drawn out vowels. He straightened as much as he could and turned to face her, back to the wall in an attempt to compose himself. There was something off about her, something he didn't like, but with everything still swimming and disorientating him he couldn't put a finger on what it was. "Possibly the former. The drugs were new." Why was he sharing this? Had he really become so lonely that he found comfort in conversation with possibly hostile strangers? "Who're you?" He asked, squinting to get a clear look at her. She was attractive, the kind of beauty that came with being supernatural... or photoshopped. "What're you?"

Scarlett continued to study him. He was definitely not human. He was a fellow supernatural creature, but she couldn't put her finger on what exactly. Although, knowing he was one somewhat like her, she became a tad bit more comfortable. Still didn't mean he wasn't dangerous. But if she had guess, he was no threat. He was almost blackout drunk, not mention drugged up. She could easily tell by the way his words slurred and the smell emanating off him. Scarlett herself had only pleased herself with a few drinks - mostly a bottle of corona and a few shots of vodka. She wasn't there to get crazy or drunk.

"You should know never too take drugs there," she told him. "It's always the hard stuff," she continued with a small shrug. She wasn't surprised that the stranger was confessing to her - he was drunk. Things happen, she would know. She pressed her red lips together, thinking for a moment when he asked who she was. "Scarlett," she answered, a tang of sweetness in her voice. Her body stiffened a little more when he asked what she was - so he knew to. "Demon. More specifically, princess of the underworld. Daughter of Lucifer, whatever you wanna call it," she explained, almost acting like it was nothing. "What about you, huh hotshot?" she asked, tilting her head to the side slightly.

There was nothing subtle about how Eli recoiled and her answer, face scrunching up further as he flinched.

"'M an Angel," he answered, not technically lying. Showing weakness around demons was not a practice Eli was fond of, and he didn't plan to make a habit of it. He tugged his hand through his hair in an attempt to make it settle down as he assessed the situation. Demons were difficult for Eli to assess, but more often than not they had ulterior motives and a penchant for causing misery. "Try any tricks and I'll smite you," he warned, doing his best to look imposing despite his disheveled appearance "'princess' or no."

Scarlett could easily tell how much his mood changed at her answer. That wasn't uncommon. Hearing that you're in the presence of the devil's product wasn't exactly calming. She was often met with "were you sent to kill me?" or something along those lines. Little did they know, she didn't work for her father. She barely saw or talked to him. In fact, she hated him.

"Ah," she hummed. Angel. Should've known. It was obvious he was now turning a cold shoulder to her, she couldn't blame him. She growled a little at his comment. "Ease yourself," she shot back. She couldn't help but grow irritated with him. "If i wanted to hurt you, I would've already," she told him, half true. "Besides, what more could I do you?" she added. She calmed her attitude as best she could.

"Look, I'm only here to help you," she explained shortly after. "Either you can accept it, or tell me to fuck off," she said, rather bluntly. "But looking at your condition, I would do yourself a favor and let me help you," her tone had become a bit more relaxed, sweet even. Most thought of her as a cold blooded killer, but she wasn't as bloodthirsty like her father.

If Eli had still been an angel he would have killed her instantly. Or tried to, anyway. He'd been in love with the feeling of power and the knowledge that what he was doing was good. Now that he was one of the things he used to disdain it was a lot harder to feel the blind derision that he'd had before. The irony of he, an angel, being hostile and hopped up on enough drugs he couldn't walk straight being taken care of by a demon was so strong that he couldn't help but give a sardonic huff of laughter. He closed his eyes for a moment as he allowed himself to give in, opening them again to gaze into hers.

"Fine, you probably know more about human narcotics than I do." Maybe if she killed him it would teach Gabe not to leave Eli alone. "Don't try to find or touch my wings, though," he warned. He knew that of she did she would realize he had none and h'd been lying about his angelic status, which was not something he particularly desired. "Not sure what you're getting out of this." He reached out to Scarlett, silently asking for support.

Scarlett couldn't help but feel relieved when he did accept her offer for help. Whether she liked it or not, it looked like he really needed her. She rolled her eyes slightly at his remark, "Trust me. I don't care about your little angel wings," she told him. "Although, I do have to say. Doesn't quite seem angelic like to go out and get fucked up on drugs and whatnot," she commented with a light shrug. "Buuuuut, that's none of my business," she quickly added on.

Her eyes flickered down to his hand, quickly accepting it with hers. She took a step closer and wrapped her arm around his waist and allowed him to lean against her for support. He was clearly taller than her, but that didn't stop her. "Honestly? Nothing," she replied. "Just feels right," she murmured. "So, did you come here with no friends or what?" she asked, curiously. It was a little odd that he had nobody around with him. Not many people came here alone, unless they were getting over a breakup or something.
