Ben Weller | 2 comments Hi Jacqueline,

I wondering if you would be interested in reading a novel that I have written and am yet to publish. It is my first novel and I would love any thoughts on it. Below is a brief overview. I only have it on PDF as am yet to publish as am happy to email it.

The Journeyman is a tale of a young man learning about life and love and the dangers of challenging those with power. It follows the life of Samuel Murphy, an only child, growing up in an Essex village in the mid-eighteenth century. Soon after completing his blacksmith's apprenticeship, he finds himself arrested and charged with the attempted murder of the son of the local aristocrat. The story follows Samuel to this point in his life and beyond to where his heroic actions lead him to have his sentence commuted and his enrollment in the British Army, which is heading to America at the beginning of the Seven Years War. Samuel Murphy’s character developed after reading about the life of Isaac Darkin, an English highwayman of the same era.

Let me know if you would like to read it.

All the best.

Ben
