The last section, thoughts on the book.

message 2: by Keriann (new)

Keriann (kad123) This was my favourite section, I thought it was extremely powerful and really spoke to me, what I took from it was don't forget to live because the previous sections have taught us life is short.

I gave this three stars, it was heartbreaking and powerful however I did feel the first section let it down a bit.

Anja A little wake up call and reminder in the end, about what is important in life. And I think that is one thing the book wants to remind us of...life is short! Treasure it now and not when it is almost too late.
Well, "enjoy" might not be the right word choice for this book, but I did like it a lot and it will stick with me. I hadn't heard of it before I joined, but I'm glad I read it. I gave this 4 stars

Milena Widdowson I agree totally with the author’s ending thoughts on her journey. Death fundamentally changes you. Be it by giving you insight, shifting your perspective on what being alive means or by leaving your heart wide open, allowing you to consciously see and listen to the journeys of fellow human beings.

I have had such a personal reaction to this book in a positive way, it has helped me process my own grief. I can’t say I love it because of the subject matter but to me it will always be an important book.

This was an interesting book overall, but to me the first section just let it down. Still, glad I read it and some bits will linger with me for a while, I am sure.

I was surprised it ended so quickly - I read it on Kindle so didn't look ahead to see how much was left but when I finished part 2, I thought the last part would be a full part - but it was just a smattering of good reminders, absolutely.

Linda (lindaleehall) | 30 comments I just joined the group and haven't read the July book, but I would like to start with the August choice. Can someone tell me what that book is?

For August "the housekeeper and the professor" by Yoko Ogawa was chosen. Looking forward to it...it's been on my tbr for a while. :)
