I nominate Furies of Calderon. This was a group read back in 2012, but I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and it would be nice to read it together with the group.
Seconding Furies of Calderon, and nominate second book in the series, namely Academ's Fury by Jim Butcher
I'll second The Alloy of Law and nominate again The Silmarillion it came in a close second for the August BOTM
I'll second Lord of Light and nominate The Witchwood Crown, Tad Williams' new Osten Ard book. (It's the start of a new trilogy, and I don't think it relies on having read the original books.)
I nominate Soleri, I won an advanced copy a couple months ago (came out in June) and I'd be interested to see what others think of it - I thought it was quite good.
Alice wrote: "I nominate Soleri, I won an advanced copy a couple months ago (came out in June) and I'd be interested to see what others think of it - I thought it was quite good."This does look interesting, but the price is outrageous...$15 (US) for a Kindle version well under 400 pages?? Hope the library has a copy.

Yikes - that is a bit steep for a virtual copy. well, none of my past nominations have made it close to winning so there's a good chance this one won't make it past voting, haha :).
Never hurts to try,; )
Good for the heads up always, though. Might have a lot of surprised people not wanting to purchase in the end.
I'll second Blackdog, and nominate a title that has been in the running a few times before... Senlin Ascends
I'll be forever seconding Blackdog but Monica has already read my mind so Senlin Ascends it is. Loved it so much and I'm not even into steampunk or post-industrial fantasy at large.

This was released three weeks ago in the UK, it is £22 on Amazon and unavailable as a kindle.

Heheh, Maybe I'll start a "Don't vote Soleri" political campaign. Amazon US had copies going from $10 already so I thought ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, but I should have done a bit more research. Can I revoke my nomination? Good luck and me don't get along, I'd hate for it to win and people have to spend too much money.
It's up to you, new releases are expensive here and kindle are expensive wherever that other post referred to- America?
People won't vote if they don't want the expense so I wouldn't worry on that account.
I'm leaving this open as it went up later but we do have loads of noms so it'll definitely be closing on Saturday evening Uk time.

Titles were tagged as such to alert would-be buyers...until Amazon caught on and banned the tagging.
Lol. I just won't pay more than I would for a paperback. Ideally, I expect it to be cheaper due to no physical product.

I'm going to make up the poll now,
NO MORE NOMINATIONS OR SECONDS WILL BE ACCEPTED
But I'll leave this open for now so you can discuss the poll :)

Oh well, been there done that so to speak. Looks like no clear majority for anything. Good selections this time the vote is really spread out.

Place your book suggestions here, one nomination and one second per person. Do read through the rules first, please. Feel free to nominate books that have failed selection previously.
1. All nominations must be shelved on GR as fantasy primarily.
2. All nominations must be linked to their book page, or they'll be ignored.
3. All nominations must be seconded.
4. Check our group bookshelf as we won't be including books we've read since January 2014. Check here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
5. No self-nominations.
You have a week to nominate, then I'll set up the poll.
Helen :)
