Hey everyone! Keeping up with how we organized this month's rec post on ONTD (with book recs by continent), this thread is for everyone to discuss the books they've chosen to read by African authors (remember - only women whom you've never read anything by before).

Tell us which book you've chosen, what it's about, whether you liked it and would rec it, etc. You can also use this topic to ask for more recs!

Juliana (julzreads) | 94 comments I just read Tarryn Fisher's Love me with Lies series. She was born in South Africa so it checks off this continent! I read all three books in three days and good lord were they good. She writes some really good villains but you end up rooting for half of them. I may have fallen for Caleb and I adore Olivia for the broken mess that she was. Leah is an awful person all around. I read The Opportunist, Dirty Red, and Thief. They HAVE to be read in order because she saved the best for last.

I'm reading Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, who was born in Ghana. It's a multigenerational story and each chapter focuses on a new character. It's best appreciated if you read it one chapter at a time instead of all at once, in my opinion - it's a lot to take in. It's a fantastic book, but so sad and infuriating.
