I think it's a pretty terrific read. It has some flaws and narrative dead ends, and it feels like there's some groundwork being laid for a sequel or series down the road, but I enjoyed Gonzalez' premise, his characters and his prose. There's some backstory and other heavy lifting that falls by the wayside in favor of a pretty propulsive plot and set pieces, but it's an unusual piece of "superfiction" in that it doesn't wear too many of its influences, homages or derivations on its sleeve. If anything, it leans more on its "Die Hard" tropes than its more comic booky elements, but it's a fun ride I'd be happy to reboard in the future.
I have it marked as a want to read, the premise and trusted reviewers of mine liked it. It's harsh for $13 though, and no library has a copy, so i am trying to track it for a price drop.
