Let people know which Graphic Novels you love, what's worth reading, and what's really not.
Keep this one for simple recommendations and short reviews. There's a seperate folder for discussions about Graphic Novels and authors!

Teddy | 3 comments My first recommendation is always The Arrival by Shaun Tan. There are no words but it honestly doesn't need them, plus it means pretty much anyone can appreciate it!

Victoria | 6 comments Injustice:Gods Among Us is absolutely amazing. the art is beautiful and the story will keep you on the edge of your seat. the only problem I have is I think they messed up wonder woman's character, but she still kicks ass

Meg Blasi | 5 comments I'm currently reading the Black Science series. It's a really cool concept, and the art is amazing.

Tooch (itstooch) | 6 comments I recently finished a huge phonebook of a comic, its a biographical manga about the life of Osamu Tezuka, creator of Astro Boy and one of the founding fathers of modern sequential art and animation in Japan. "The Osamu Tezuka Story." LOVED it he was such a passionate creative mind.

Avery | 4 comments I recently picked up Shade, the Changing Girl, Volume 1: Earth Girl Made Easy, and I'm really digging it. I never got around to reading Milligan's Shade run, but the new one doesn't really require knowledge of it, and rules. It's a really cool, surreal story about a listless alien who jumps into the body of a comatose 16-year-old and then ends up stuck there, and has to deal with both the mundane world of earth and various weird extraterrestrial stuff.

Some general fav graphic novels include:
Beanworld, Vol. 1: Wahoolazuma!
The Complete Persepolis
Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic
El Deafo
Krazy Kat
Little Nemo in Slumberland - So Many Splendid Sundays
Bone: The Complete Edition

Jo Berliner | 2 comments (Sorry, on mobile so having trouble linking books)
Also a big fan of Nimona (Noelle Stevenson), which started as a webcomic. If you like messy butch girls and dragons and science and archnemeses this is a very good one.

Andrew S Olszewski (phantom23001) | 1 comments I have two recommendations, both I read when I was young and probably too inappropriate for someone at that age : Batman: The Long Halloween, and Batman: The Killing Joke. Long Halloween is Batman trying to solve the murders of members of the Mob, all on holidays. The artwork is very unique, like caricatures of each character, with writing being very serious. The Killing Joke is basically the origin of the Joker, and is regarded as one of the best graphic novels ever written, with a great art style, and many quotable remarks from both the Joker and Batman. Hope this helps people, sorry for going on a little long.

Déirdre Mullane | 1 comments This is more of a question than a comment. Has anyone read Fun Home? A friend suggested it and lent it to me, but I’m apprehensive based on the summary that I may need to prep for possible trigger warnings (I come from a family background with domestic violence and alcoholism). Can anyone shed some light on whether or not this could be problematic for me knowing this?

Thanks for any insight!
