I hope they don't either. It read like a movie. I read an article where they showed pics of some of the cast
I've been waiting for this book for close to 4 months. Everybody wants to read it. Lol. I might break down and buy a copy.
Wow. 4 months is a long time. If you buy a copy pass it on to a young reader. I'm waiting on the paper back version to add to my collection
i just finished The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. it was great.
it took me a min to read it. it was too much for me. i eventually listened to it on audio and it was easier to handle all the feels.
i started The Hate U Give in Dec 2016 but i had listened to The All-American Boys in Oct 2016 . that is probably one reason why i couldn't finish it then. i was still raw .
now i hear buzz about Dear Martin. (which i probably will read eventually just not quite yet.)
and i am wondering how many of these are going to be written? so far they are very well written but i wonder if this topic is going to saturate the market like after hunger Games came out and dystopian novels became all the rage in YA.
i'd like some real life memoirs and bio's to come out that were just as compelling to read that talked about police brutality. i find it hard to read nonfic but if they wrote book about Sandra or Trayvon like they wrote Fruitvale (it was a movie though) then i could listen to it.

hmm Amandla Stenberg seems awfully lightskin to play Starr. sigh. it is not hard to find a brown skinned teen. i mean Starr is described as caramel not coffee with lots of cream. we take 2 steps back and 1 step forward.

I was thinking the same thing about the pick for Starr. Its like they just gave her the role. She does have some titles under her belt.
I'm gonna go buy this book and read it this weekend....and then pass it on to my cousin, like Maya suggested.
Awesome Lulu! You and anyone else in the group please free to join our buddy discussion. I'm waiting on Rachel to get back to me with a date for discussion.
Maya wrote: "I was thinking the same thing about the pick for Starr. Its like they just gave her the role. I agree Kay. Glad I was not the only one disappointed in that obvious observation.
