━━━━━ [ SPARK'S GRAND ARCADE ] ━━━━━━

. spark's arcade is one of the best spots in town for kids, or if you're going on a date - or even a fun place for the pals. it has every arcade game you can think of. including air hockey, laser tag, ping ball, etc. the lights are always down, the place is glow in the dark though. everybody likes to wear white just because it glows! the location is right beside the movie theaters. on some nights, you'll catch a town band playing.

Harley White felt her heart flutter as she entered the buzzing activity filled room. It took a quick moment before her blue eyes adjusted to the lighting. She had been out in the sunlight all day, so suddenly shifting to slight darkness messed her up a bit. "Just as I remember," she commented with a big smile across her pink lips. She turned to her friend, her slightly wavy blonde hair whipping around as well.

"Now, let's go see if you can, quote on quote, kick my butt at air hockey," she told him teasingly - tossing in a wink as well. She grabbed his hand once more and pulled him over to the two air hockeys that stood in the middle of the room. The perks of coming at this time, is it wasn't too packed. So there was no waiting to play the game of choice. Thank goodness, she didn't think she could wait. Harley tended to be a bit impatient at times.

Caspar remembered this place from when he was a kid. Sometimes, he had been able to scrape together a few quarters so he could spend some time at the arcade, playing pac-man until he was out. He'd never been very good at pac-man, to be honest.

He laughed, and nudged Harley. "Of course I will," he declared. "I'm the best air hockey player this arcade has ever seen!" He gently shook Harley's hand off of him, and took up his position opposite from her. He hadn't played air hockey in a long time, but he hoped he still had the skill he used to.

Harley couldn't help but roll her eyes playfully at him. "Keep on dreamin'," she teased. She loved a good challenge. She laughed, "Damn. I guess we'll have to see," she told him. She quickly walked over to the other side of the table before digging into her pocket. She pulled out three quarters and than inserted them into the machine. 75 cents to play wasn't a bad deal. The good thing about this place is it was still cheap.

She smiled as the table buzzed to lift, the lights flickering on and air beginning to make it's whooshing sounds. "Alright, pretty boy, let's see what you got," she said playfully before leaning over and grabbing her paddle. Unfortunately for her, the air hockey puck spat out at Caspar's end.

Ema (gee-fiera)
"I think you're the one who's dreaming," Caspar retorted, grinning. He grabbed onto the paddle, standing at the ready. If they played a game after this, he decided, he would put in the cash for it. It wasn't much, and he didn't want Harley to pay for it all.

He blinked for a second, thrown off by her comment, but quickly regained his composure - seemingly, anyway - and hit the puck towards her. "You think I'm pretty, huh?" he asked with a laugh, only slight awkward.

"Oh, boy," she laughed slightly. She raised an eyebrow a bit at his reaction but shoved it away once he hit the puck. One good thing about being part wolf is her reflexes. She spotted the puck quickly and hit it back with no problem.

She thought about the question for a moment, trying to think of a....friendly answer. "Of course," she finally said. "More good looking than most guys around this town," she added on with a small laugh. It was true. As much as she liked to think everybody was attractive, they weren't. Some were just more better looking than others, and she couldn't help who she felt attracted towards.

Ema (gee-fiera)
So far, so good, Caspar thought. Maybe he actually would win. Maybe. He lunged for the puck again, sending it sailing towards Harley.

Caspar shrugged, grinning. "Well, you're right there," he agreed. Yeah, okay, Caspar knew he was good-looking. He put a good bit of care into his appearance, mostly so people wouldn't think of him as poor or anything, and he took a bit of pride in it. Was that a bad thing? No. No it wasn't.

Unfortunately, Harley got so distracted by Caspar that when the puck got sent back, it flew into her slot. She groaned before taking it out. She didn't realize she was blushing until she felt the heat on her cheeks. She placed the puck back on the table and sent it flying back toward Caspar.

She glanced at the time left, 1:30 and counting. "You know, you might have me beat at this," she laughed lightly.

[ i know we never had a romance planned for these 2 but i might have an idea if we did & you wanted to ?? ]

[id love to hear it!]

"Yeah!" Caspar whooped, raising his hands into the air and yes, jumping up and down a bit. Just a little bit. So he was still good at the game! He quickly calmed himself down and got ready to play again.

"I told you I was awesome at this," he said, grinning at Harley. "Ready?"

[ since like, he is super secretive and whatnot & harley is really out there and bubbly - it'd be interesting to see her finally get fed up and confront him. she would probably think he was lying to her about everything, ya know? turn into some huge fight idk. tears & all. ]

Harley couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. "You're such a child!" she teased. Although, she had to admit. It was cute. She loved that he was acting so freely and childish around her, it just made her feel even more comfortable and secure. This wasn't a normal thing for her around other friends.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she responded. "Don't start celebrating too early," she told him with a wink. "Uh, I was born ready!" she giggled.

[at the other airport now and my ride is late so here I am. But yeah, that sounds like an awesome idea! Caspar is so secretive it'll take a while to get him to admit it]

"Well, we are in an arcade," Caspar pointed out. He hadn't been in one on his own since he was a kid, twelve or thirteen, maybe. He hadn't thought he would be again. "And if I am a child, well." He grinned at her, "At least I admit it."

He held up his hands in a playful defense move. "All right, all right. Let's see if you can score." He got ready once more to play, shaking his hair out of his eyes. It had fallen out of his ponytail at some point.

[ i lived in colorado for the longest time & it's so beautiful! have fun! ]

Harley nodded in agreement, "You got me there," she laughed in response. She smiled up at him. "At least you admit it. Most would never," she said with a giggle. She felt her heart fluttered with a mixture excitement and a little bit of nerves, it getting caught in her throat. She swallowed it down and shook her head slightly.

She huffed out a dramatic breath, "The least you can do is go easy on me," she whined, playfully. She had noticed that his hair fell out of his ponytail, making him more attractive but she shoved the thought of her mind. Just friends, Harley she told herself mentally. She turned her gaze down to the table she wouldn't be distracted again.

[it is gorgeous here!!]

Caspar nodded. "See, that puts me a step above." Not really, but he could dream. In reality, he was a step below everyone else. He didn't even see being a shapeshifter as making him better. If anything, it made him more paranoid.

"Now why would I do that?" Caspar asked, grinning at her. "Come on Harley, you can score if you try." He didn't mean to imply that she hadn't been trying before, but he really hoped she wouldn't take offense to it. That would put a damper on things for sure.

[ i lived in Grand Junction. It's about an hour for Denver. It was gorgeous, I use to go up the mesa alll the time. They was always still snow up there, even in the summer months! The mosquitos i could go without though.. ]

Harley shook her head slightly. "Whatever makes you feel good," she teased. She began leaning against the table, focusing on the puck and her paddle.

"Oh please," she scoffed. "I didn't entirely think this through. I haven't played air hockey since I was like..... eight. And my rust is realllyyy showing," she laughed. She flickered her gaze back up at him, pressing her lips together.

[oh cool! I'm up by Colorado Springs, a bit past.]

Caspar thought of several different ways he could take that comment. He didn't want to go dirty with it, that wasn't him. But at the same time, he didn't want to take it super seriously. Talking was hard. "Oh really?" he said after thinking about it, raising an eyebrow at her.

"I haven't played in a long time either," Caspar responded, "And I'm still beating you." He smirked. "Would you look at that."

She nodded some in reply, "Mhm," she hummed. She cursed herself mentally for the heat rising to her already rosey cheeks. She hated feeling gitty and like her stomach was in knots. All she could do was keep a gentle composure, which was easier said than done.

Harley rolled her eyes playfully at him. "You have an angel of some sort of on your side then. Because you got me beat," she frowned as the puck flew into her slot once again. The timer buzzed, announcing game over. "I suppose I should owe you something, yes?" she questioned, cocking her head to the side slightly.

message 19: by Ema (new)

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar shrugged, stretching a little. He'd been bent over the table, and it hurt. He was not meant to do that. "Nah, you're good," he said. "I don't want you to get me anything."

That came out wrong too. Why was this so hard lately. "That sounded meaner than I meant it to," he admitted. "Sorry." He ran a hand through his hair, pushing it out of his face in the process, and smiled sheepishly.

Harley shrugged lightly, "Okaaaaay, if you say so," she said innocently with a smile. "Seriously? Nothing at all? Not even a soda or ice cream?" she suggested, giggling a little.

Honestly, she hadn't taken it offensive at all. She didn't even think of it that way. "Oh! no. Don't worry. I don't think you could be that mean, even if you wanted," she told him, watching him for a moment before looking away and over at the claw machine that some kids were playing at.

message 21: by Ema (new)

Ema (gee-fiera)
[sorry for the wait!]

He nodded. "Seriously," he said, "I don't need anything." And he meant it - he didn't like it much when people got him anything. Even if they didn't know his real situation - which most didn't - he felt like they were trying to give him charity. And he couldn't have that.

Caspar shook his head. "Well, good. I'm glad you think so," he shrugged, and followed her glance. "Wanna give it a try?"

Harley nodded simply in response. She watched as the kid attempted to get a stuffed lion, but failed. He's mother led him away afterwards. She turned back to Caspar, barely hearing him ask if she wanted to try. "Is that even a question?" she responded with a smile.

She quickly walked over to it, staring into the glass to see what her options were. "Aw, I want that pink stuffed dog," she finally said, pointing at it through the glass. She backed away and shifted her gaze to her friend once more, "I suck at these. But than again, their usually a huge bust anyways," she laughed lightly.

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar laughed. "I suppose not," he said. He came around the other side of the table to join Harley, watching until the machine was free.

He had actually been about to say much the same. "Well, that's true," he said. "I've never been much good at them either." Lie. He'd never tried. He didn't want to waste his hard-earned money on a game that likely wouldn't give him anything. So he had never given them a try before.

"I heard that their just something to steal your money. Every now and then, it'll give the claw just enough power to pick up the prize and give it to you. But it's rare," she explained to him. She had always believed it, because it made sense. But she knew that if you brought a witch to this thing, she could just as easily get something.

She reached into her pockets and pulled some change, inserting two quarters into the machine as it requested. She grabbed the joystick and shift it around until it was right above the stuffed dog. She clicked the button and watched it, it grabbed the prize but as it lifted up - it fell. "See, told you!" she groaned, smiling still though.

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar would never say it out loud, but to him, it seemed like a pretty good plan. It would certainly work, that was for sure. His thief's mind could find no real fault with that kind of plan. But he didn't say any of that. He nodded, and said, "Makes sense to me."

He watched, bemused, as Harley pulled the stuffed animal up. "Well, good job Harley," he said, chuckling. "I wasn't sure you were gonna get it after that."

Harley laughed slightly. "It's magic," she teased. Maybe it was - who knew in this town anymore. She's had her fair share with witches, they aren't very fun. One took her voice for the day because she wouldn't do one of their evil deeds, she's avoided them ever since.

"Why don't you try, hotshot," she asked with a playful smile. She backed away from the controls, offering it up. "I have two more quarters," she added, holding the two coins out to him.

message 27: by Ema (new)

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar laughed, "Of course it is!" He didn't believe in magic, not really, but he was willing to believe anything with proof - he can turn into animals, remember? He shook his head, putting his hands up. "Oh, no, I'm good." He was still laughing, but he was serious about not taking a turn. "I'm good, Harls, really."

Harley rolled her eyes playfully at him before shoving the quarters back into her pocket. "Ugh, you're such a loser," she teased with a smirk as she came closer to him. She glanced at the clock that hung up above them. It was already 8 o' clock, time went by fast.

Her heart skipped a beat as a thought trailed into her mind. "The sunset is gonna start soon, we should go watch," she told him. "I know how to climb up to the roof, it's beautiful from there," she added on with a smile.

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar scoffed. "Uh, sorry, I thought I was a winner," he teased, lightly poking Harley in the arm. "After all, I did bet you. Remember?" He poked her once more, grinning. He wasn't this childish normally, but what could he say? Harley affected him like that.

"You know how to-" he shook his head, surprised that he was surprised by that information. "I don't want to know why you know that," he said, "but I'd love to watch the sunset with you."

Harley scoffed, "Let's not talk about it," she responded with a playful roll of her eyes. "You just loooooooove rubbin' it in, huh?" she laughed, sticking her tongue out in a childish manner. "Imma get cha next time, just wait," she told him.

"Ummmm..." she trailed off, knowing exactly what he was gonna ask. "Let's just say, I've had my fair share of rebelling," she said with an innocent smile. Honestly, she had discovered the route as a pup. She use to hide up on the roof all the time from her parents. Her eyes lightened up at his response, dragging him back outside with her. She walked around to the back of the arcade, avoiding the camera that was there. She made her way to the dumpster where a ladder was set on the wall, leading up to the roof. "See," she smirked.

[sorry this took forever but the inspiration has partially returned]

Caspar scoffed, "Well, yeah," he said. "I've gotta sometime, don't I?" He poked Harley, laughing. He was just teasing, after all. No problems.

"Apparently, that's an understatement," he said. He trailed after Harley, arms crossed. He knew how to get places in town most had never dreamed of, but climbing onto the roof of the arcade had never seemed useful to him. Apparently, he was wrong. Gazing at the ladder, Caspar tipped his head back, following its path. "Well. You're right," he said with a laugh.

Harley rolled her eyes, "I suppose. Doesn't mean you have to though," she told him with a soft giggle. She playfully swatted his hand away as he poked her.

"Of course, I'm alw-usually right," she told him, remembering their conversation at the waterfall earlier that day. She jumped onto the ladder, climbing up it until she made it to the top. She quickly pulled herself up and scrambled to her feet. "Hurry! We're gonna miss it," she yelled down at him before carefully walking over to a part of the roof where they could sit but avoid being seen by people below.

Ema (gee-fiera)
"Yes I do," Caspar said, nudging Harley. "That's what friends are for, right?" At least, from what he knew.

Caspar chuckled, catching her pause at the remembrance of that conversation. Then, shaking his head, he grasped the ladder, calling, "I'm coming, don't worry!" up to Harley. It wasn't difficult at all for him to climb up — he'd climbed much harder thinks, up to and including a pine tree. A ladder was no biggie. Not long after, he pulled himself over the edge of the roof and quickly found Harley. He went to join her, running a hand through his hair. "This is higher than I thought it would be." he said, looking out.

Harley carefully sat down. She looked over where she found Caspar climbing up and heading over to her. Smiling up at him, she patted the spot beside her, urging him to sit with her. She nodded, "Yeah. Don't remind me. I have a small fear of heights," she responded gently. "Not thinking about it helps," she added with a weak smile.

She turned toward the sky where the sun was slowly going down, making a pretty color across the sky. Sunsets were always her favorite. She pulled her knees up to her chest, letting the breeze flow through her hair.

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar sat, crossing his legs and shifting a bit to get comfortable. "Oops," he said. "Forget I said anything." He hadn't meant to make her afraid, obviously. How come she had found a way to climb onto the roof, he wondered, if she was afraid of heights. "I'm glad they don't bother me," he said, instead of asking her. He didn't want to bring even more attention to it.

"That's okay," she replied with a short laugh. Harley began feeling more calm and secure now, which she usually did in these kinds of situations. A friend and a beautiful moment. "I'm not as bad as some people. It usually happens when I'm really high up. Like one time me and my friends were hiking this big mountain to get to the top of a waterfall. I looked down and kinda just... froze up. My friends had a hard time getting me to continue on, but I did," she told him. She was glad she forced herself to go on, the waterfall was stunning. The incident had happened a few years ago - good luck getting her on top of a mountain ever again.

Ema (gee-fiera)
Listening to her story, Caspar really wasglad he wasn't afraid of heights. "Well that doesn't sound like fun," he said. He leaned back on his hands, gazing out at the sunset. It really was beautiful. "Were you glad you kept going?" He himself had never been on any mountain hikes - no time. Not really. Heck, he really shouldn't even be here. Wasting precious time... He cast the thought out.

Harley nodded, "Of course," she replied. She got lost in her thoughts for a short moment. "It was beautiful, once in a lifetime thing. The way I look at it, you have to face your fears. Don't let something like scared of heights or scared of letting people in ruin your life. You'll miss out on so much," she told him, smiling at her words. "If I hadn't forced myself to go on, I would've never experienced being on top of a waterfall, ya know? It's kind of an example," she finished.

She blushed lightly at herself. "Sorry, I'm rambling on. I sound like my mother," she muttered, laughing gently yet awkwardly.

message 39: by Ema (new)

Ema (gee-fiera)
Caspar nodded. "Facing fears is usually helpful," he agreed. He knew, though, that he was ignoring part of what she said - fear of letting people in. He wondered if there was a name for that particular phobia. "I understand," he said, nudging Harley lightly. "And don't worry about rambling. I don't mind it."

He really didn't, he thought. Didn't her rambling mean she trusted him, at least on some level? And wasn't that what he wanted? A friend who could trust him, despite the fact that he felt like she shouldn't.

Harley smiled weakly toward him as he nudged her. It made her feel a little more comfortable knowing he was okay with her rambling - as she did it a lot it seemed. A trait she carried from her mother.

"So, whatcha afraid of?" she asked curiously. "And don't try to say nothing, because everybody is scared of something," she teased lightly, nudging him back.
