Rather than pick apart everything I don't like, I would like to open the floor and find out how people actually did like this book. So for all the fanatics out there who DID enjoy this book, I just can't understand how this book could be seen in a positive light based on the following features:
-Choices go out the window. Albus gets Slytherin in order to (possibly) build the connection with his new friend, Scorpius. Why would he choose a friendship with Scorpius over perhaps the reputation he would have with his brother James, who teased him relentlessly about getting Slytherin? I did not feel there was enough evidence to support that Albus would give up his choice for Gryffindor.
-Albus is miserable when he is a Gryffindor in one timeline. He is also shamed by his father, who wishes he wasn't his son. That single line, in which our beloved Harry becomes a horrible person, does not belong in the Potterverse.
-Time-turners have actually not been destroyed (how convenient!). The nature of time-turners is actually changed altogether, creating infinite different universes. (Might have been interesting had we not already been exposed to time turners, however we were taught that time-turners do not actually work that way.)
-Hermione, one of the most influential female characters in literature, is reduced to a spinster teacher when she does not marry Ron.
-Ron succumbs to the persona created by non-die-hard fans that he is nothing but comic relief, adding nothing to this story.
-Cedric, who is worshipped as one of the truly good characters throughout the series (see book 3 when Harry faints during Quidditch and he is willing to have a rematch) becomes a Death Eater because he is humiliated.
-And of course, Voldemort, who is not capable of love (and by extrapolation, not capable of lust) would be revealed to have a hidden child with Bellatrix. Voldemort, who murdered his own father and grandparents, who believed he would live forever and not need an heir, whose state of humanity is questioned.... had a child. Perhaps if we had not yet learned where babies come from and could just accept Delphi as like an adopted child it would almost work (or if she was like a distant cousin to Voldemort) but I certainly cringe at the thought of Voldemort with Bellatrix.

As a side note as well, the title itself was never explained. Is the Cursed Child Albus just because he is on the cover? Why is he cursed? Is that a metaphor or a true curse? (See my other discussions) The other seven titles were quite obvious, but the language "cursed child" was never used in the book. It seemed like a last-minute title for a story that actually wasn't really about Harry Potter.

Here is another one: Polyjuice Potion, which takes a month to brew, is a readily available commodity to teenage boys!

Yes.... those were mostly the reasons except you forgot one thing,
How did Bellatrix have a baby without anyone noticing? That is what I would like to know. In the books, there was no gaps without Bellatrix, she wasn't gone for long enough. And all the Death Eaters would have noticed she was gone, but there was absolutely nothing mentioned! In all the rest of Rowling's books everything was all well planned, but this was just a catastrophe.

Bellatrix was absent for most of book 6. I think Rowling believes that that "explains why she was missing." (Face-palm...)

Yes, I didn't think of that.... but wouldn't there be some mention of it? Like, a death eater saying: "Yeah, so Bellatrix gets a break and not us..." grumble grumble, but no! nothing mentioned.

Hi... I am going to entirely change what I am talking about, and ask about the rule that you have to live in Ontario, Canada.
Bc I live in the United States Of America and am wondering if it is too strictly enforced....

LOL originally I started this group as a way to actually connect with fans... the intention was that we could bond over events that really happen in Ontario. These would include Harry Potter symphonies in Toronto, the Festival of Wizardry in Goderich, or the Yule Ball that was supposed to happen in Toronto last year. Ideally, we would have gone to the events, and then come back here to discuss them. You know, and have discussions like, "Did you get Bonnie Wright's autograph?" "Who do you cheer for at the symphonies?" etc. etc.

Now I just let anyone join if I feel like we can have meaningful Harry Potter discussions. :)
