The group voted to read the Romance nominee, The Hating Game, in August. The winner for this genre was It Ends with Us. Have you read any of the other nominees for this award? Which have you read and what did you think? Which was your favorite?

Do you plan to read any of them in the future? How about setting up a buddy read of one that you are interested in this month? Use this thread to discuss and find a buddy!

Schedule buddy reads here, then set up a separate thread to discuss.

Janina (sylarana) | 0 comments I loved Kings Rising .. the Captive Prince series is one of my favorite fantasy series (it's not really much of a romance tbh .. there is romance, but not more than in most other fantasy novels geared towards women.

I'm planning to read The Score someday.

Vicki Willis | 1047 comments I have to admit that I haven't heard of any of these books as it is not my GO TO genre.
I did read It Ends with Us though and loved it. I cried and cried.
I have read Nora Roberts before too and have liked her so The Obsession appeals to me.
After reading the descriptions of the ones that are not part of a series, I think that Punk 57 is the kind of book I secretly read and love. :))

Romance is not my genre. I occasionally read a romance and enjoy it, but it has to have a certain something else to it. Oddly enough, I own The Obsession and Big Rock. I got them from an Audible sale at some point. I must have been in some sort of mood. lol

I agree that Punk 57 looks interesting, Vicki, and the type I might try. Lynn read it and only gave it 2 stars though. Lynn??? I'm curious what you thought. Your review was...brief.

Vicki Willis | 1047 comments I am starting Punk 57.
Am on audible. I don't like the narrator for the guy MC. I do like the narrator for the girl MC.
Not sure what to think in general. They don't seem like the type of high school kids I know. I can't tell if I am annoyed or entertained yet. lol

Oh that's too bad, Vicki. A bad narrator can ruin a book.

Oh dear, I totally forgot you asked me about this book .... and now I've forgotten most of the details about it. From the little I can remember, it's classed as a YA, but the characters definitely don't act like YA. I was also highly irritated by the female MC, majority of the time I wanted to slap her. I'm pretty sure there were other things but I've blanked them out now .... I just have an overall feeling of annoyance when I think about the book.

I remember in one audiobook I could hear every time the narrator inhaled. Very annoying.

Vicki Willis | 1047 comments So I have to post about Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas . I can't believe how much I am liking it. It is almost embarrassing to say so. It is definitely NOT YA. It IS hot and heavy on the erotic side with a young person's perspective. I am listening on audible and have gotten over the male narrator's tone and inflection. To me, it is a like an adult's version of a young adult book. lol Definitely not for everyone, but I am loving it.
