I did not like this one very much. Not many people agreed with me ... I had only 1 "like" on my review ... LOLLINK to my review

From what I've seen of my IRL book club members' reviews, they don't seem to like it very much either. So, I could be in the minority not you.
I think my main problem was that I couldn't help but compare it to The Night Circus, which I loved. This work just suffered in comparison.Still, it has an average rating of 3.63 on Goodreads, so you are not alone, Jenni.

I really enjoyed this story. It was fun, full of adventure and magic. It was also very unique. I have never read a book with this type of magic in it. I hope we get to explore the other types of magic more in the next two.
I really liked all the origami in it since it's one of my favorite hobbies. I even recognized some of the folds Ceony and Emery did.
I adored Emery (view spoiler)[and can't wait to see how his relationship with Ceony plays out in the other two books (hide spoiler)]. And, I did like the protagonist, Ceony, more as the story continued. I also loved Fennel.
The story takes place in England during the 1800s. I enjoyed the setting a lot, but I often felt like we were in modern times. That and the fact that it did drag a little bit in the middle is why I only gave it 4 stars.
I do look forward to reading the other two books in the trilogy, though.
