-Raithe is being quite pouty in this section. Training the boy has given him a bit of a purpose but certainly not enough for him to get away with being a jerk. I’m not sure if he’ll step up to be Keenig, but he needs a bit of character development before he’s as ready as Persephone thinks he is. -I really like Nyphron. He’s very practical, but not in the doomed Ned Stark way. I feel he’s very much prepared to be a man of action (albeit within the law that says he can’t kill Fhrey).
-I feel the mission to Nieth is a little underpowered. It’s not Persephone’s fault, the dwarf trio failed to mention their problem was more dire than just a giant. I wonder what Moya’s purpose is in this adventure party.
-Maybe I’ll end up being wrong but I think Mawyndule is a follower and not purely evil himself. It was Gryndal in book 1, and now these Artist rebels in book 2. He seems to actually listen to the council chair when she gives him advice. And he barely said a word in the meeting in Chapter 14. It was Makareta, Aiden & the others that whipped the entire group into frenzy for ‘dealing’ with Vidar.
So it's funny how Nyphron gave this speech about who should lead the humans and the whole time I kept thinking Persephonie was who he was talking about. But he was talking about himself. Meanwhile Persephonie thought of Raithe.
I agree about Raithe. It reminds me a bit of Perrin in the middle/later books of Wheel of Time. Probably because I've just recently been reading those again, but still.
I do find it interesting how it's all woman going to Neith (well minus the Dwarves). Seems like a flip of the normal thing. They do have a good mix of skillsets, but in terms of sheer numbers they are a bit understaffed.
Mawyndule is kind of a petulant child. But he's also a supremacist. I have a hard time having any sympathy for him, even when he's not acting like a cartoon villain. I do think he's easily manipulated, and as you pointed out that Makareta and Aiden are the driving force. His defense of Vidar and concern over their actions does make him feel a bit more well rounded..but not much for me.

I can see your comparison of Perrin and Raithe. Both are being thrown into a leadership position that they'd rather not have.

And both are whining about it more than I'd like. :-D Although Raithe has a long way to go to catch Perrin.
