Maria Hill AKA MH Books (mariahilldublin) | 601 comments I will nominate TransAtlantic by Colum McCann as its the fictionalised story of three crossings of the atlantic between the US and Ireland.

Newfoundland, 1919. Two aviators—Jack Alcock and Arthur Brown—set course for Ireland as they attempt the first nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean...

Dublin, 1845 and ’46. On an international lecture tour in support of his subversive autobiography, Frederick Douglass finds the Irish people sympathetic to the abolitionist cause...

1998. Leaving behind a young wife and newborn child, Senator George Mitchell departs for Belfast, where it has fallen to him, the son of an Irish-American father and a Lebanese mother, to shepherd Northern Ireland’s notoriously bitter and volatile peace talks...

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire

This story focuses on lots of young people who have visited other realms, dimensions, worlds etc; some of the worlds are inspired by fairytales, some by nursery rhymes, and some more contemporary.

It's a novella and Young Adult - so a quick summer read. It's about 4 1/2 hours on audio. Published in 2016 it's still only available in hardback 12 Euros from BD. Its about 6pounds for Kindle - which is expensive!

Kara | 106 comments I would like to nominate The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick. I read this book for the first genre in our 2017 challenge. It was a great read.

Bookworm with Kids I will second Emma's nomination of The Penguin Lessons.
