Gay Science Fiction discussion

I finished reading Dark Space last night. Really enjoyed it. Was so easy to get the feeling of Cam and Brady, to slowly build up in finding out their history, their emotions, their lives. Their connection added a nice extra layer to their connecting with each other. The sharing reminded me a bit of a tv favorite of mine, Sense8. Dark Space was no way near as complex, but that's not a bad thing. Sometimes it's just nice to have a easy-flowing read, with thinking being secondary to feeling and imagining. This book was that for me, an easy read. And yet I was still emotionally involved in the story and the characters which does not consistently happen with easy reads. But I was there. Their up/down relationship and the even more up/down ending kept me there. Actually was way irritated at points when it seemed they would not end up together. Was nice to have a happy ending. But it still made me want more. More about Cam's time with the Faceless, more about Faceless, more about Brady's life on the station, more about Cam's life on earth... just more.

On a side-note, I used to be an avid reader of varying types of books, but I've not finished a book in many years. Heck, I'd just stopped even trying to start reading a book. My focus just was not there for many reasons. This is the first book in over 10 years that I've read in its entirety and, more importantly, was able to retain (and wanted to!) memories of the storyline and characters. Very nice. Is such a good feeling to be back reading again! Thank you.

Mike, that's fantastic! A book that breaks a reading drought should get a special award IMO. I hope you'll share this post in the group-read thread over here since yours is the best story yet.
