If anyone wants to join in the group read for the months of August-September feel free to leave your thoughts in this thread.

Please no spoilers :)

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Oh! How nice! How lovely to get picked for a read.

Anyone who wants to join in and read 'Bittersweet' I will cheerfully offer a 99cent deal. Just pop your names down here and I will give you a Smashwords coupon to get a copy of the ebook. Amazon is such a fussy beggar for trying to get gift coupons made out. Takes ages to do. Smashwords is a breeze.

I remember reading your last book Tizzie a year or two ago and really enjoying so when I saw this mentioned in another thread I thought it was time to update our Group Reads!

I hadn't realised that your new book was out in paperback but looked like it on Book Depository:

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments oh yes, all our books are in print. We do ebook out first to qualify for certain book awards and into print the following month for the other book awards. We've swopped from Createspace to LighteningSource Ingram Spark because they do a much better print edition and for we kiwis and Ozzies they have an Melbourne/Sydney? duh! office so postage is vastly reduced.

If you'll review it at Amazon and Smashwords for me I'll send you an ARC, the print version, which is identical to the retail version!

I've got about five lovely blog reviews from reviewers but they won't post them on Amazon as they all use Twitter. So Bittersweet is being tweeted to death but I need those 4 and 5 stars up at Amazon so that I can get the novel on the best book selling newsletters. Sigh!

I'm getting there, p.d.r.

Erica, I read the draft and final edition of this book and highly recommend it. Just have to get to reviewing it.

If you like hist fic with a NZ focus, I also highly recommend one of p.d.r.'s students - The Effects of Henry's Cage: Elean's Story and The Effects of Henry's Cage. Roberta's story.

Ninitha (Niko) | 81 comments Quick question, what's the concept of group reads? Do we make suggestion or is it a place to promote resident authors from the group?

I think in the past its been a bit of both. Might open a suggestion thread and poll for the next one if that's something you'd be interested in.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Oh ho! A Lesley review coming up! Marvellous. You were such a helpful Beta reader, Lesley and your comments helped me knock the book into shape and then polish it.

And yes, Bernie's two books are a good NZ read. She's busy writing another NZ historical and I can't keep up with her.

When Tizzie was chosen the mods did a random pick of the NZ books listed. So it was chosen by luck.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Bittersweet is in the book sale we are holding Oct 11th-17th and I am charmed to note that as Amazon reduced the price on the 8th it's selling already!

Anyone want a 99cents copy now is the time to buy.

P.D.R. Lindsay (pdrlindsay) | 1760 comments Did anyone read it? If so may I beg a review. Tizzie garnered another 5 reviews after the book sale but Bittersweet only garnered one more. I need another four or five 4 or 5 star reviews to get promotion in the best email newsletters, which I need to get into to sell more books.

Tizzie actually hit 37th in the Amazon Best 100 British historicals so it was a best seller. That's twice Tizzie has hit the top 100 list.
Bitterweet was 93 in the top 100 Irish and English historicals but I won't skite until it gets higher up the rankings.
