This is the continuing story of Joanna, a former Dominican novice. The story picks up a while after the crown....Henry is now on wives 4 & 5. However, there are some flashbacks in which Joanna's mother takes her sickly daughter to visit a nun who is known for her prophecies. The prophecy states that Joanna will be instrumental in bringing back of the monarchy which scares the young girl. In order to avoid the prophesy, in fact Joanna enters the nunnery.

This was once again a great story, much broader in scope from the first one. Since all of the monasteries and nunneries have been taken over by the crown, Joanna is living on her own, trying to take care of Athur, her cousins son. Some of her Stafford family realize her prophesied role, and try to encourage (forcefully) to join them. Eventually Joanna gets drawn in and her adventures take her undercover traveling through Europe.

While I enjoy the series, I wouldn't really consider it a romance book. There are two men that Joanna has feelings for, but it is very chaste - not a typical historical romance genre book. However, it is well written with interesting characters so from that standpoint, it deserves some recognition.
